Chance/ Match me with some prep schools?

Hey, I'm an eighth grader who is looking to apply to some boarding schools for the fall 2011 school year. help me find some schools? or tell me about the schools i'm thinking about?

Science- A
Social Studies- A+ (it's my strongest subject and I want to have a career in it)
English- A+ (creative writing! =) )
Math- A/B+ but I am in my school's advanced math program
Spanish- A+
SSAT- My practice scores are pretty good, and I am being tutored for the test. I am also an excellent interviewer.

I currently attend a Catholic school. I am a club swimmer, but my main interests are musical theatre. I sing (private weekly lessons) act (in weekly group classes as well as being in several productions a year) and dance (weekly classes.)

I am also very interested in archaeology. I have had e-mail contact with Dr. Zahi Hawass (famous archaeologist), and he contacted his associate, who will be giving me a private tour to the King Tut exhibit in NYC. I think this would be something especially cool to show the BS i apply to.

As for community service, I currently volunteer at my studio with a muisical theatre class for 4-6 year olds.

I also want to study Arabic in school, though I am willing to look at schools that don't offer Arabic. Other than that I would like a school with a strong arts program, and I am open to an all-girls school. My dream school would be Deerfield Academy, but I know I have to be realistic. Here are my matches.

Reach- Phillips Andover, Phillips Exeter, and Deerfield Academy
High Match- The Taft School (Should it be a reach?)
Match- Emma Willard School, Canterbury School, and Millbrook School (I consider some of those my safeties but I have to dig in a bit more)

Thank you in advance and let me know if you think some other schools would match me!

Consider Miss Porters in CT. Also look at boarding school review.com (all one word).

Good Luck

Thanks! I’ll definitely look at it. Boarding school review has pretty much been my only source of information about a lot of these schools, so I appreciate any inside info you have about schools

I think that the TABS site is also a good place to start a search:

[The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS)](http://www.boardingschools.com/home.aspx)

Thanks for the website, it will help even though I’ll get the best impression when I go for my interview. I’ve heard thats the best way to get a feel for a school

@school2324: A) If you have geographic limitations, use the sites to find schools that are within your boundaries; B) Pick a few schools and request info kits…you might be able to eliminate or elevate some schools based on materials and their sites; C) Tour and interview at your top choices…you are right that in person is the best way to truly get a feeling for a school…

School: I’m curious about why you want to go to boarding school–it sounds like you’ve got lots of good opportunities to pursue your interests at home. What are you looking for that you can’t get there?

My public school isn’t very good, and a lot of these schools have more resources so they have clubs in things that I’m very interested in. (Ex. Exeter has an archaeology club) but I’m not opposed to staying home (there’s a good Catholic high school I could go to) but I just want to explore all of my options.
