Chance me :) 2300 valedictorian

Business/Economics
Chance me for:
Harvard
Yale
Dartmouth
Duke
Northwestern
Georgetown
University of Texas Business Honors

SAT: 1st time-2020, 2nd time 2200, 3rd time 2300 (720 math 780 reading 800 writing)

SAT IIs - not yet taken but for this assume 700+'s in math and US history

Class rank: 1 out of 93 (I am valedictorian by a land slide)
GPA: 4.0 UW and 4.4 W. Private school it's probably pretty average.

Schedule is where it gets iffy, but I will include my grades to show what a baller I am. My freshmen schedule is weak because freshmen can't take APs. I had 4 honors classes. Sophomore schedule only allows for 1 AP and 3 honors classes. Junior schedule is also limited by the relative lack of easily accessible APs. Here it is -
Honors PreCal - 98
Dual Credit Composition - 98
AP US - 97
PAP physics - 99
Honors Film - 99
Dual Credit Religion 98
AP Computer Science - 100
PAP Environmental Science 100

Weird I know.

Volunteering:
-At my church (has 30,000 people) as a camera operator and also a video engineer. I have 300 hours. I don't know if I should call this work experience or volunteering?
-Free SAT tutor 100 hours
-Started an organization that tutors at-risk elementary students. I don't know if I should call it an organization because it's just 3 of my friends and I going to tutor kids and we don't have like an official name or anything? Maybe we will get more students and name it? Does that make it an organization?
- I might work for habitat for humanity but I would do that in my junior year summer so colleges might think it's shallow. Should I do it?
-should I also list little stuff like working at Good Will for 20 hours?

Extra-Curriculars:
Founder and President of FBLA. I did this my junior year. I facilitated a stock market game among the club, pitched parents and school officials a small business idea (FDA shot down the idea.) We are also teaching financial literacy classes. I dont know if I should call that volunteering?

Young republicans (1,2,3)
-Vice President junior year
-never actually did anything in the club but I might get someone to speak for us

Chess club (1,2,3)
-Did some tournaments (school wide)
-Will be Vice President

National Honor Society (2,3)
-Food drive committee
-Christmas gift thing committee

-VEX Robotics
Coached a team and acted as a scout. Won a few local tournaments (100 hours).

No sports

Work experience:
-worked for a state senator for 2 months then went to working for my county's GOP. Going to work there 6+ months for 15 hours a week. Essays will probably be about this.
-Intern for a finance website assisting in building business relationships (emails) and managing content. It's 5 hours a week.

Awards:
-National Merit Semi Finalist (I will be)
-Some class awards bs
-School does something like UIL but it only happens once I suppose it's regional. 1st in duet acting, 4th biology, might place in journalism of writing this year. Always competed in math but never won.
-Vex robotics, coached a team that won 1st at several local tournaments. Participating at state soon. (This is probably worthless).

No hooks. White male income bracket 100k - 125k.
Okay so there is just about everything. I know my ECs are pretty weak. Oh well :/

Please don't simply say "those are reaches for everyone" - give me something to improve on if you are going to say that.

Nice improvement on your SAT. :)

“I might work for habitat for humanity but I would do that in my junior year summer so colleges might think it’s shallow. Should I do it?”
Is it really shallow to help people like that? O_O I’d say do it anyway.

“to show what a baller I am.”
lol what

I think you are in the running for these schools as much as anyone. If I had one comment, it would be that SAT math can be improved by studying, if you are applying to schools that superscore it. However, some colleges don’t like to see people test more than 3 times, so I will put this one out for other posters.
Many student EC’s are good, but it would help to focus on what interests you rather than what you think looks good to colleges. You are the only one who can determine that. It seems that your focus is politics/finance. Your essays are going to be about this. You could do Habitat, but are there non profits that could use your business skills- like maybe helping with the accounting at the Habitat office.
Religion is off topic for CC, but what got my attention was the username. Now that I’ve read your EC’s I am a little confused

I assume you also know that these colleges can not be the only ones you are applying to unless you are an auto admit to Texas because they are all extremely selective.

I am auto at Texas so it is my safety. I am hoping to make it’s business honors but I’m applying ivy in case I don’t. Just to clarify, I don’t actually care about the people I’m helping or the things I do. They’re all just a number. That’s why I need to know if helping out at habitat for humanity is worth anything. Thanks for the advice - I will try to find a different non-profit where my business acumen will be needed. Also, should I call my tutoring gig an organization? And do you guys have any ideas for other schools I should hit up? Also, about the SAT math, a 720 isn’t going to hurt… I know personally a kid who was accepted to Dartmouth and UNC with a 1700 on his SAT and he didn’t even have cool ECs - just a laundry list of odd-jobs.

“to show what a baller I am.”

“Just to clarify, I don’t actually care about the people I’m helping or the things I do. They’re all just a number.”

I hope this is a ■■■■■. Otherwise, you don’t deserve to be going to any of these places. Reevaluate and then kindly ask for a chance as opposed to blindly writing through your own superiority complex.

If you are a ■■■■■, then making these kinds of statements with a user name Jewishboy is offensive and could be seen as anti-semitic. This not only personally offends me but it is beyond the rules at CC.

If you are not a ■■■■■, and you are Jewish, and/or you also attend a church as you claim, then you’ve had at least two chances to learn the value of working at a charity like Habitat. If you are any other religion, or not religious at all, you can still learn the value of caring about other people.

Any which way, you’ve missed something bigger than points on the SAT.

I was saying all of that sarcastically… Notice how the rest of my post is self-effacing. I don’t understand why me being Jewish bothers you. I am not a ■■■■■. I just need people to chance me and I was making a somewhat humorous post. And if I get accepted, I definitely deserve to go. Are you mad you didn’t get accepted or…?

“Are you mad you didn’t get accepted or…?”

If you were actually sincere and joking, you wouldn’t follow up with that remark. Sarcasm on the internet is not well-understood unless there are quotes or an asterisk to make your point clear. Be respectful. This is supposed to be a friendly community forum but people like you make that difficult to achieve.

if you were actually sorry, you’d recreate a more respectful post where your ego and self-righteousness were removed. If you can’t do that, kindly leave

It doesn’t bother me that you are Jewish. Your post bothers me because I am Jewish. I don’t see what’s humorous about "I don’t actually care about the people I’m helping or the things I do. They’re all just a number. "

If you are here for advice, then at least try to be considerate of the people here who are trying to give it.

Since when do you make the rules? I want rude to anyone. Instead, you verbally assaulted me and demanded me change my ways because you can’t understand my sarcasm. Can everyone else just ignore applicant and chance me.

How was I inconsiderate of you guys? You guys were rude to me first then I responded justifying my humor. Sorry for what I didn’t do now can we overlook it and you guys just chance me?

You responded by justifying your humor and followed it up with “Are you mad you didn’t get accepted or…?” Clearly you should realize that if you were joking, you should just clear it up and apologize as opposed to throwing it back.

That was a joke too. Where are you confused? Thanks can others chance me?

OK, if you are seriously asking, then this is how I would chance you:
Harvard- high reach
Yale-high reach
Dartmouth-reach
Duke-high reach
Northwestern- low reach- match
Georgetown low reach-match.
University of Texas Business Honors- auto admit to UT, not sure how the business school admission works.

I already mentioned why: The math SAT mid range for your high reach colleges is 710-790 so your math SAT is on the lower side. You have some interesting EC’s in different areas but not as strong a focus in your major area of interest (business/politics).

Despite my skepticism. I will take you at face value that you were joking and unaware that what you said could be seen as offensive. However, some of your jokes are offensive and you’ve been advised that they are.

While the advice here on CC needs to be considered according to your own circumstances, some of it is excellent. You can take it or leave it.

C’mon guys can more people chance me? Please?

Harvard, Yale and Duke - High reach
Dartmouth - Reach
Northwestern- High Match
Georgetown - Match
UT - Safety

Private School,1 out of 93 (I am valedictorian by a land slide) typical conceited rich kid. Your a joke, I wish you were a ■■■■■ than it would be more palatable. Although must admit with that attitude hopefully it will translate into your essays and interview so that El Paso Community college is your best bet.

El Paso is impossible because I am UT auto, so they can’t reject. Has anyone ever called themselves a “baller” seriously? I assumed you would catch that joke. Also, my income bracket leaves me middle classed, not rich. You’re really just a hater aren’t you? Sounds like you were bullied a lot by kids from private schools. Might want to keep your emotions to yourself because that’s probably why you were bullied. Any other chances?

I just want to clarify - take anything that sounded douchey with a grain of salt. I was joking around, trying to get this thread more attention. Sorry to those I offended

lol anyone who uses the word “hater” seriously…
