bump.......any feedback pleaseee!!!

bump.....before i go to sleep.

Let me give you a little bump.....

Just a note: try to "curtail" your stats profile so to make it easy and concise for us to read. You are not going to have all that space when it comes to the real application.

It is easy to read....unless you're dyslexic. And why wouldnt this go on an application? I'm not going to let my awards and leadership go down the drain.

He means that your posts are too long which is kinda discouraging for most readers. Also, he means that you can only put a limited amount of awards and clubs etc. in the applications because universities only designate a limited amount of space for them, so really it is not a huge advantage to post them all here if you are not gonna have them on the application.

IMO, your ECs look great even though it is really limited in sports (only 1) and doesn't have the biggest of varieties.

However, your GPA is very low for JHU...the average GPA for JHU for undergrads is an unweighted 3.66 (given by Yahoo) to 3.69 (given by the Princeton Review). Your ACT is also very low for JHU, whose mid 50% is around a 30/31 ACT...Your rank is also top 16%, and it is very hard for those who are not top 10% to get in (80% of undergrads accepted to JHU are in the top 10%).

In the end of the day, unless JHU is really looking for a Muslim undergrad or a Business potential man, which I find hard to believe, your chances look really slim. Still, apply and see what gives because you have a shot, slim as it may be it is still a shot!

Good luck.

here instead of us giving you our lame chance predictions, you should chance yourself =D
Class of 2010 data
unweighted gpa median: 3.85
median sat score: 2160
class rank median: top 3%
acceptance rate: 27% including ed and rd applicants
and that's all i can remember sorry...anyhow gl! remember statistics isn;t everything
http://hopkins.typepad.com/hopkins_i.../04/index.html
i think the gpa you listed above are outdated info, same thing was listed for upenn on another college book thing published at 2007
edit: now i remember the book was peterson's

however, jhu is one of those schools who uses a holistic approach meaning you still have a chance of being admitted even w/ below a 3.0 unweighted gpa and below a 1800 sat score

Yea, I think those are for Class of '09

Seriously people, read a school's common data set before posting a chances thread. If your GPA and SAT/ACT are low for the school, your chances are not good.

your act is too low i think

and you've done a lot of business stuff

JHU is a medical based school

Didn't JHU just recently open their business school?

In any case admissions might be more lax, then, because JHU is a medical-centered school. They probably don't get that many aspiring businessmen/businesswomen (to be PC).

the major concern for you, in my opinion, is your GPA, class rank, and ACT. ACT and class rank look a little too low for JHU standards, and those C's on your transcript will probably stand out (in a bad way).

Also, the ECs are business oriented. JHU is don't have particular attraction for business stuff. I think you'll have a better chance at business-oriented schools (ex. Wharton), but again, your numbers are a little bit too low for top schools.

Well, since you're a junior, you still have some time to bring those grades up a little bit and take the standardized tests again. If they improve, you'll have a much better chance of getting in. Good luck!

PS if you list your extracurriculars on your application like you did here, you're gonna have some trouble. Don't just make a laundry list of your ECs, make them concise but meaningful.

thanks for your feedback! anyway...act score is expected to go way up and my grades are gonna be straight As. Also i e-mailed a jhu ad counselor and they said they calculate GPA by taking 2nd semester of sophmore year and all of junior year. They also count mid years in senior year.

One more ques...how can i make these ECs look more concise? Kinda stuck on that.

anakin...all colleges look at your sophmore first semester grades, even if jhu does not officially calculate it in

each year is just more progressively more important
eg: a 4.0 for soph(both semesters) and jun will look better than a 3.8 for soph(both semesters) and a 4.0 for jun if course rigor and ec and eveyrthing is the same

How to make your ECs look more concise?

Well, first, you got to find a FOCUS among that parchment of ECs you have. What are you interested in THE MOST? What's your passion?

And if you do decide to list a certain EC, both you and the admissions officer have to know that certain EC's purpose. Why do you want to do it in first place?

I noticed that even though you are rejecting my proposal of curtailing your EC list, by the time you see actual application, you'll know what I mean. It's not about quantity. Your priority is QUALITY (I only had around 6 ECs listed on my JHU applicaition. Yet each of them demonstrated tremendous depth and all corroborated my interest/passion).

A note about GPA: regardless of each school's calculation variations, your aim should always be an average between 90% to 95% (though anything above 90 should be fine)
