Thanks everybody!
I’m working on a chem. project tonight, but if you have a chances thread I’ll definitely do you as soon as I have time to really read it

bump! 10char

I think you have a shot at all of these, but the only think holding you back is your GPA. However, you do have some good AP scores, so those count for something.

Thanks and good luck!

Thanks ArenasField. I don’t like to think too much about my GPA. Junior year took it down from a 4.0 and it’s so frustrating to know that I slipped that badly for that long. It’s okay, though. Best of luck to you!

bump.
Thanks again to everybody who’s already responded!

bump again!

Great ECs! I would definitely recommend interviewing because it sounds like you’re a passionate student. Your GPA is a bit low, but it sounds like you take a lot of hard classes so if your weighted GPA is substantially higher that could help a lot.

Chance me back ?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1553189-chance-me-lacs-will-chance-back.html

I would say your EC’s and GPA are your Achilles’ heels (why would u change schools ?).

Good SAT, though your aforementioned weaknesses might sting in your app.

I’m putting the Ivies _ JHU at mid-high reaches, rest around match level.

Good luck, though!

And if you have time, please chance me back My thread should be floating around up there

It wasn’t my choice to change schools, but we moved. I couldn’t stay. Sigh.

I guess I stopped checking this thread too early, but I just got you two back!

Anyway, I came back to this because I can’t decide if I should apply to Penn, Columbia or Dartmouth ED. Can somebody help me out? I mean, is the admissions bump for Dartmouth ED really not worth it? I would choose it over the other two easily if I had my way, but I would also be really happy to be attending any of them, and if I can really help myself by EDing at Penn or Columbia instead, that’s what I’ll do. Thanks so much for your input!

Go ahead and call me out if this is an awful question. I know it’s bad to apply somewhere early decision just for the jump in acceptance rate, but I don’t have much of a chance at any of them and I’d like to change that.

(P.S. I’m re-taking the SAT, and hopefully I’ll be able to get over 2350. I’ll also take the chemistry subject test and expect/hope to do very well (750+))

Please chance me back!

Thanks, swarshell. Anybody have advice on where I should go for ED?

Dartmouth ED for you should be a pretty good chance- low/mid reach.
as for the others…

Columbia- higher reach
Penn- reach
UChicago -reach, high reach
JHU - reach
Carnegie Mellon -low reach
NYU - low reach
Georgetown - low reach, reach
American University -match

I really believe that you have awesome SAT scores and that will help you a lot for these schools, your unweighted isn’t awful and hopefully your weighted is stellar. I belieev you have solid shots at any of these schools, and NYU and BU youre definitely in.

Dartmouth (ED)- low Match (all ivies are generally regarded as reaches no matter what)
Columbia- low reach
Penn- reach
UChicago- low reach
JHU- low match
Carnegie Mellon- match
NYU- high match
Georgetown- match
American University-Safety?
Tulane- Safety
William & Mary- high match

Chance back for JHU? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1553970-chance-me-jhu-ed.html#post16380628
BU- possibly safety

Thank you everybody who I missed, I think I’ve chanced you all back now.

astrobiomajor, your predictions were a lot more liberal than some of the others, and while I’m not exactly more confident in the probability that I’ll get into my reach schools, it made me feel pretty good to read them! Thanks a ton for the pick-me-up!

Do you all think my list is unreasonably long?

Uchicago, penn, Dartmouth, and Columbia are all in that reach/ high reach category and you are just as competitive as any other applicant. I would apply ED penn if you like it there because that’s your best shot. Georgetown and JHU are low reaches/high matches. Tulane and BU seem r be low matches and I don’t know about the others. Good luck! Chance back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1544121-chance-duke-ed.html

Thank you, and Good luck with Duke!

I think I’ll go with Penn ED. I wish I hadn’t slacked off so much and let my GPA get to where it is so that I had a better chance at Dartmouth. Oh well.

Bump?
