ACT: 35
Subjects: 740 Math (will retake, hoping for 800), 730 USH, 680 Bio (will retake, hoping for 730+)
Rigor: Took All honors freshman/soph year, all AP’s junior/senior year, transcript will indicate i took the a very difficult schedule
Intended Major: Community Health
EC’s: 200+ hours of comm serv for food banks and a tutoring club for elementary kids who didn’t have enough food, received presidents award for community service, many leadership positions for clubs(tutoring club, premed club, music club), NJROTC Drill Team (went to Nationals and placed top 5 (will not state exactly for sake of privacy, but I wasn’t 5th)
Recs: Should be great, asked AP Bio teacher and AP Euro teacher

UC’s tend to be very GPA focused so your capped weighted GPA is a bit a on the low side for the majority of the UC’s. Your ACT score is excellent and will definitely help your chances. I think the top UC"s will be tough admits, the mid-tier UC’s could go either way. Your EC’s are solid and having some leadership will also help. Apply widely and best of luck.

UMich also treat GPA as most important factor. With a low class rank indicates that is not due to your school grading system. It will still be a reach for you like most OOS students.

In one day, it went from comm health to nutritional sci or psychbio? Do you have some way the foodbank ties to any of these? (You’re unloading boxes? Or working in advocacy? Big difference.) The top privates will want to see how you pull this together, how you show you’ve put energies in the right, challenging directions. It’s not just hours, awards, titles

Also, “transcript will indicate i took the a very difficult schedule.” Yes, your transcript shows courses and adcoms know which are usually difficult. But on the Common App School Report, your GC will indicate Most Demanding or Very Demanding, etc, based on the context of what’s available and what your best peers have done. You need to see how he/she rates you. That matters.

And even if you get Most, the gpa shows a number of grades below A. You may love the difficult courses, but especially in those related to whatever major it is, it matters, for top privates.

I’m still doing comm health at applicable colleges, community health nutrition and psychobio are pretty interrelated
