Chance Me: Applying for 11th Grade: Exeter, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, Lawrenceville

I am applying for the schools mentioned in my title for my junior year. I am currently an incoming 10th grader at a public high school ranked 12th in the state.

Nationality: Korean-American (born in Rochester NY)

Freshmen Year:
Honors Geometry: A-
Honors World History: A-
Biology: A
English: A
Journalism: B+ <- I know :P
Spanish 2: A-

Sophomore Schedule:
Honors Chemistry
Honors Alg2/Tri
Honors English
Honors US History
Spanish 3
Computer Science
(I will get A's in all of these, I have begun learning the material by myself before school has started)

I am also the President of my school's computer science club, and am a prominent member on the school's literary magazine and newspaper. I am also involved in the environmental club and AV club. I also pursue my main hobby, computer programming, outside of class. The stats for that are listed below:

Self Taught: C++, C, PHP/MySQL, Assembly Language, Perl, Java, and networking things

Extra Curriculars: Ice Hockey for 7 years, Piano for 5 years, Bass Guitar for 3 years, Tae-Kwon Do for 6 years, clarinet for 4 years, Columbia Summer High School Program (course in Financial Markets), Community Service doing work in the inner city (teaching children, etc)

I think that I would be a good applicant because I love to learn, love to help other people learn, and know how to balance fun and seriousness. My career aspirations are: Double Major in Computer Science and Economics, then go to graduate school for my business degree. I have a high interest in mathematics and science in general.

I will not be applying for financial aid.

Well you have very good stats. It also helps that you are full pay. Have you ever considered repeating a grade? Although it sounds like a bad thing at first, I have discovered that a lot of people to repeat to increase their chance of being accepted.

You also may want to try apply to some lower tier schools, as safeties. It is always bettter to be safe then sorry.

Thank you for your response.

I will most likely be applying to some private schools around my area as well (such as Horace Mann and The United Nations International School). If I do not get in anywhere, I can continue my studies at public school, which isnt a problem.

Lol. You are more flexible then most kids on this forum (myself included) that get very determined to get into a one school in particular (for different reasons) and everything revolves around that one school.

this is just a general assumption. we know who we are

hah, yes it certainly appears so. I just want a quality education, of course there are some schools that captivate my attention moreso than others, but I try to not be too picky. I am currently very interested in UNIS (united nations international school). Any feedback on this school?
