Chance me: Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Choate

Hi, I’m applying to Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, and Choate. I realize you can’t tell me if I’m getting in or not… but do you think I’d be in the running with other students applying?

Basics:
•I’ll be applying for 11th grade
•I’ll need financial aid
•I’m a girl

Academics:
•Throughout middle school I had all A’s except for two or three B’s sixth grade year
•Last year I had two high B’s first semester in honors science and math.
•This year I have all A’s.
•I take the hardest classes my school has to offer (so all honors because 9th and 10th graders aren’t aloud to take AP classes at my school).
•I’ve taken Spanish for two years
•I’ve been on the honors roll since sixth grade
•This year I have straight A’s except for the B I have in my honors English class

Extracurricular activities:
•I play tennis competitively (seven years)
•I play soccer, golf, and ski for fun (not on any teams but like to do it for fun)
I'm involved in the school newspaper (first year and I love it… I would have done it longer but… again I wasn’t aloud to write for the newspaper as a 9th grader)
•I do a lot of acting, auditioning for plays and taking acting classes (four years)
•I've been in girl scouts (eleven years)
o (I swear I'm not exaggerating) I’ve done hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of community service through GS
o I've earned my bronze, silver, and (almost) gold award, three huge community service projects.
•I started my schools chess club this year
•I babysit (3 years)
•I've written a few novels on my computer. Nothings published but all of them over 50,000 words. Writing is usually what I do in my free time. I’ve been writing stories since I was about four years old

Other Info
•I took the PSAT this year for the first time and got a 155 on it. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to retake it so that’s the score I’m going to have to apply with
•All my teachers love me. When my mom came home from parent teacher conferences she was amazed by how highly my teachers thought of me. Even my least favorite teachers were saying how I was their favorite student and how I was always so engaged in the subject.
•I have not had my interview yet but I’m great with adults (as is every other person that applies…)
•I have Tourette Syndrome. It's a movement disorder. I have it fairly mild. It's had no effect on my life whatsoever. Would this hurt me... because, well, it's a disorder? Or could it actually make me stand out considering I've basically overcome something that most people with the disorder can't do.

With that being said, do I have a chance at either of those schools?

send a portion of one of your novels over to admissions if you haven’t already done so. Tourette syndrome will be a great hook, but it may impede your chances of being accepted…I’m not sure though. Your ECs are a bit lacking, in my opinion. All these are fairly ordinary with the exception of the novel-writing. However, your tourette syndrome may help here because you do all these sports and acting and you have this syndrome…sounds like great essays to come! Lacking on awards, especially considering you are in America, but definitely an interesting application.
I’d say you have a chance, but I’m no authority on this matter.

This from wikipedia: The majority of cases are mild and require no treatment.[12] In these cases, the impact of symptoms on the individual may be mild, to the extent that casual observers might not know of their condition
So this syndrome may not help as much as I thought…in that case, I’d say it’s merely an average application.

LOL Flash9k is incorrect and is writing in such a manner to make himself feel better for some odd reason. Your application is outstanding, ESPECIALLY your long list of EC’s, etc… I am POSITIVE you will be accepted to at least one of your schools. Btw, how does flash9k know how “mild” your Syndrome truly is? This will only HELP your application.
