I know it's a reach but I really love Andover, do I have a chance?
I'm going to get straight A's this year(eight grade) and volunteer.

Thatcher is actually spelt Thacher. You sound like you have a chance, it really is difficult to say. But know this, schools such as Hotchkiss, Andover, and Thacher are incredibly difficult to get into.

did you play clarinet in a jazz band? lol

yeah I do play clarinet in jazz band lol

Thacher is not a “stats” school per se. Once they know your SSAT’s and past grades would allow you to succeed academically, then it’s all about the match. What would you bring to the School community, how do you round out the rest of the freshman class, do you have a history of being engaged and looking out for the other guy, do you love the outdoors, what do your past teachers say about you, what do you have to say about yourself…and so on.

Thacher’s acceptance rate is very low. It also has the highest yield of any boarding school in the United States. I’ve said this a million times on this site: Thacher is not right for every kid, its demands are unique and high. But, if you are that right kid, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven. It IS that amazing.

I wouldn’t rely on youth group and religious classes for your ECs.

If he cares about them they are just as much as ECs as anything else, actually more interesting because fewer people take such classes.

I really want to get into thacher, does anyone have any advice? In 7th grade I got all A’s and B’s besides for a C in health because i didn’t do my homework. I’m class president. I’m in a John Hopkins honors algebra coarse, and i’m aiming to get straight A’s and a 100% on my SSAT in 8th grade. The acceptance rate is really low so i’m just wondering if have a chance to get in. If there is another thing i need to know about how to get in please let me know.

You can’t get 100% on the SSAT - that means you are better than 100% of the people who took it, which isn’t possible. The highest you can get is a 99%.

oh sorry, I don’t know much about the test, but i’m taking 2 prep courses. But whatever if i do really well on the test do i have a chance of getting in?

You definitely have a chance, depending on your ECs and recs and all.

Do middle school grades count for applying to boarding schools of your junior year?
