Those are, as you probably already know, all very exclusive schools. are applying to a lot, which is good, but they will probably all be a strech. Still, your ECs and test scores are good (especially if you are good enough at swimming to swim on a school team), which definitely helps. :)

test score is, EC not really, i m asian too, and it's not necessarily bad in real world context, in terms of admissions, which diversifying is one of the goals, those ECs are really stereotypical...specially violin and korean dance, not bad, at least you are doing something outside the classroom, but i wont think it's that good

mm true :\
i went to andover today..
that place was infested with koreans and other asians.
not good for you, me, or all other asians... high competition between us. eep!

I'm Korean too! Nice to meet my fella here :)
According to my friend who got into SPS, asians who especially have strong ECs and strengths in specific areas of their interest have better chance of getting accepted to what-so-called "prestigious boarding schools". Because students flying from Korea, Hong Kong don't just come with a single luggage in their hand; almost all of them have 4.0 GPA with 99th percentile in SSAT. Asian students are academically very strong (maybe due to their parents pressure..or not), but you need to have more than just excellent academic record to win your spot in boarding school. (Same goes for everyone though) I agree with Chunky that when it comes to boarding school admission, it is usually competition between asian kids rather than being a part of the admission competition as its entirety. And I also personally think that it is much harder to be accepted as an international asian student. I heard my education consultant saying that the answer keys for SSAT can be BOUGHT from teachers of boarding school prep academies for a very expensive price in asian countries (especially in korea; SSAT are taken in a personally established academies; no desinated testing centre). And obviously, the boarding schools know that for a fact. I knew that people could buy the answer keys, but I didn't know that the schools actually take that into consideration. So I guess it's more advantageous to asian students living in US or Canada than students in asia.(and students coming directly from asian countries tend to have an average ECs and recommendations too)

shikashakegurl. im applying to abou t the same schools as you except cate athacher choate and lawrencville. why do u like andover the best? btw, u have real good test scores. and for your EC'S any other community service? that helps.
