In addition, I am a type one diabetic myself and had medical issues my first semester of junior year, resulting in my GPA to drop, but my principal assured me that a professional letter would be written to explain the drop. Besides that, I had a respectable sophomore and freshman year. I will also visit the school this summer and am applying for a summer program there this year.

Thanks!

Strong stats and the gpa wont hurt u provided the letter is sent, and is well and truly professional. Out of curiosity, why CMU for ed? With your stats and ECs you would have a shot at a lot of places. Good luck:)

@Dmirza19 Thanks for your response! CMU has always been up on my list and especially since my GPA took a drop, I think it would be smart to ED there as I am not sure if I am competitive as a other applicants. Where else do you think I would have a good shot at? Thanks again.

You have a really strong portfolio here and I think you’d have a great chance. The GPA isn’t too bad as along with the letter you will be fine.

bump

Gpa seemed a drop low, however with the letter I don’t see it being much of an issue. Good Sat, you have a lot of Extracurriculars that really “jump off the page” most are unique espically the lap work and app development. I think you have a good chance.

bump lol

IB CHEM HL is so hard…I am also in it. You have plethora of EC’s in all different areas, and overall seem to have a difficult courseload, and well rounded profile. Seems like a high chance of getting in, especially ED – due to the acceptance rate being a bit more generous as well.

@bastor2000 I have an A+ in HL Chem currently, let’s hope I keep it that way! Honestly though, hardest class I’ve taken.

@xfewds, I don’t see any reason to believe that you and CMU are anything but a match.

@xfewds I have had either a 92 or 91 in Chem HL the past three quarters, I am doing much better in SL Physics with 96-97 average. They are totally different sciences. I Didn’t realize how hard Chem would actually be

I think you have a pretty good chance, you have great ECs and pretty good test scores
