Hi i am an international applicant from India and I would like to know my chances at the McGill.

Intended Major - Mechanical Engineering

SAT 1 - 2110
SAT 2 - Physics 770
Chemistry 750
TOEFL - 115

9th Grade CGPA - 10.0
10th Grade CGPA - 10.0
11th Grade marks - 93.8%
12th grade course
Math
Physics
Chemistry
English
Physical Education

I think they don't weigh in ECs much, anyways have a decent bunch of them.

Thanks

Your chances are pretty good, be sure that your SAT subscores are equal to or greater than the minimum scores posted on the website. Everything else looks pretty solid though

May I ask what curriculum is your high school?

@Maya1057 SAT Breakdown is CR-650, M-770, W-690
My high school follows the CBSE curriculum
Also is it necessary for me to send SAT scores as I am an international applicant?

I’m an international student as well (from Dubai, UAE) and when I called McGill, they told me that if your high school does not follow the american curriculum, then you are not required to submit SAT scores.

Your scores are high enough and might boost your chances at acceptance, however, if you’re not satisfied with them don’t submit them, it’s up to you

@rohit7198 I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in. I got into Arts and Arts/Science last year, and I had stats very similar to yours (SAT: 2170, SAT II: 800, 790, 10th: 91%, 11th: 88%, 12th: 90%).

Since your SAT/TOEFL scores are all well above the admissions minimums for Mechanical engineering (http://www.mcgill.ca/applying/admissionsguide/standards/unitedstates) it won’t hurt to submit them even though they are not strictly necessary.

Also, I would recommend you apply for the Major Renewable Entrance Scholarship as you have a SAT score of 2100+. They even look at your extra-curricular activities for your scholarship application so if you have any, it will greatly boost your chances. The scholarship application is separate from the admission application and thus won’t affect your chances of getting in in any way.

Good Luck!

@upapilot Thanks for the encouragement! I have applied for the Major Renewable Entrance Scholarship. Hope to see you at McGill in fall 2015!

@upapilot Did you get the Major Renewable Entrance Scholarship?
Here are my ECs:

MUNs - Head Delegate of school delegation to the Harvard MUN 2014
Quiz Club - Founder of Quiz Club, Leader of the main team, won many quizzes
Volunteering - 500 hours of it, led teams of 6 people to my state’s villages on AIDS awareness and Sanitation awareness campaigns
NTSE Scholar
Karate - Practiced for 8 years, Participated in Nationals

Great References from my English Teacher and my Project Manager at the HPVHA (the organisation with which I volunteered)

Yes, I got the $3000 renewable scholarship.

Your ECs are excellent, I would say you have a very good chance of getting a renewable scholarship provided you write a good essay.
