Chance me at Stanford?

Hey all,
I plan on doing premed, then moving on to Biomedical engineering (as a major)

I am a male Pakistani Muslim, and go to a very competitive public high school in the Silicon Valley. Many students go to renown institutions such as Stanford, UCB, UCLA, Harvard, Princeton, etc...
Weighted GPA: 3.40 (Low, I know...Sophomore and Junior Years, averaged form transcript, no PE)
Unweighted GPA: 3.20 (Sophomore and Junior years, averaged from transcript, not sure if includes PE)
Class Rank: Our school doesn't do this

ACT Composite: 33
Breakdown: Eng 32 Reading 34 Math 35 Science 32 Writing Subscore 8

SAT: Verbal 650 Math 710 Writing 760
Total: 2120

SAT Subject Tests:
Biology M: 720
Literature: 730
Math Level 2: 800

AP Tests:
Biology: 3
Spanish: 3

Extracurricular: Student at an Islamic school sine grade three, and graduated in sophomore year, and now I am a part of the staff, and help the teachers teach, and will move on to teaching there when I go to college. Also, I started a non-profit religious community service organization with a friend, independent of my parents. We have only done one project though, which was to help the senior citizen neighbors of a local mosque(mostly non-Muslims) around the house for a day, and do things for them that they would find difficult on their own. I am also a member of the Muslim American Society, and will enter a leadership position when I graduate into college.

Volunteering: I volunteered for about a year weekly at a local Blood Center.

I don't know if you need anything else to be able to help me, but just let me know.

I am applying Restrictive Early Action to Stanford. Does that upper or lower my chances? Because I have my heart SET on going to Stanford no matter what it takes.

Thanks in advance
-T

Are you a legacy by any chance?

& I'm pretty sure the 3.4 is going to hurt you more than help. But stanford is more holistic. Still, from reading chances and accepted threads, I would say high reach.

Yessir, I am legacy...
How did you know? lol
My dad went there for grad school. He came from Pakistan with $20 in his pocket since he got a full scholarship to Stanford (He was the top student in the whole of Pakistan)

I guessed/felt like asking on the legacy thing.

As for your GPA, what's it out of? 5.0 max? And even if your school doesnt rank, where do you consider yourself? Top 1%, Top 10%, Top 25...etc.

If Stanford is your first choice, I'd say apply SCEA.

If your dad went there for grad school I don't believe your a legacy to the undergraduate school, not that Stanford evaluates legacy very highly.

Your test scores and gpa are far too low to make it in on academics. Add to that the fact that for a competitive school, your courseload was incredibly easy.

I hope you have more activities, because you don't have many and I don't see an ounce of passion reading it. On the plus you and your friend did show some proactivity in starting that nonprofit, even though it didn't raise any money, and you only did one activity. And are you sure it's a nonprofit? Did you get federal nonprofit status from the government?

Being from the Silicon valley is also going to hurt because of the competition.

Sorry i don't have more good news.

It is by no means IMPOSSIBLE, but I would get un-set on going to Stanford, and consider schools a tier or two less competitive, just to be realistic.

Suggestions: Get your ACT score up to a 34+, your subject tests are good enough. Plan a few more activities for your "nonprofit", even if you don't have time to execute, just having things in the planning helps. If you can do something to raise a lot, I mean A LOT of money, and then donate it to something that goes along with the muslim theme like families in Iraq, that would boost your chances tremendous.

You need to do something HUGE if you want to stand out.

If you get your ACT to a 35/36 and write some deadly essays/ do some more activities that show your unique concern for Islamic culture, I'd say you have a pretty good shot. Still, you never know what will happen.

um there is no biomedical engineering major at stanford.

^^^
Well, for Stanford, I was going to do like biotech or biomechanical engineering.
And I forgot to add my senior courses: Biotech, AP Psychology, English Honors, AP Calculus, and AP Chemistry (one of the harder ones in the state).
I am taking Living Skills, too, but that doesn't count for the GPA.

And thanks everyone for the input

unlikely to happen.

I can tell you're very smart, but your grades suck, and nothing really counterbalances that.

If you're going to have a 3.2, please get a 2250 and straight 5s. Otherwise, look at some UCs.

3.2 is really really low.
plus no 5's on AP's
shows that even those grades might be inflated.

Thanks everyone!
I do have reasons fro the AP Scores (I took them on the same day, and yeah something happened)
Grades I understand are definitely below par
And I forgot to add my senior courses:
English Honors
AP Psychology
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus
Biotech

OH, and according to the Book of Majors, Stanford does have biomedical engineering, but only for Masters or Doctorate levels.
SO, if I go to Stanford, I will create my own major to prepare myself for those, or I will do something like biomechanical engineering

i really doubt that you can make up for the 3.2 gpa.

I guess I will find out
