SAT and GPA i think is average for the ivies... SO what do you guys think? I think the 3rd category is almost sure, the second I have a decent chance at those, but the 1st, how big of a chance is there that I get rejected by all 5??

math national awards=usamo?

national math awards + hispanic + good numbers=you are in at most colleges

Thanks for your reply, glad to hear that. But no, not UsAMo, just mu alpha theta national convention awards

I would expect that you get into at least one or two of the top 8 listed (hopefully more), as well as all of your safeties below. Your GPA and SAT are average for such schools, but your Hispanic Scholar and APs (even though they don’t hold much weight) should set you apart. Best of luck!

Also I forgot to write that my parents never finished college, idk if this counts as first gen or not, and thag my father makes a lot so we wont be getting financial aid. Does that affect admjssions though??? not sure about this…

Bumps! cmon guys please post I could use some external perspectives

You have good grades and scores, especially for a URM.
Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Yale- mid-reach
Columbia (if you’re applying to SEAS), Duke- low-reach

Carnegie Mellon (CS), Cornell- high match

Univers. of Miami, University of Florida, Georgia Tech- safeties

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1219836-chance-me-uchicago-columbia-yale-georgetown-more-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Thanks alot! Will chance you back. What is exactly is high match though?

Hahaha, you have pretty much them split them up perfectly already!

All of these are gonna be mid reaches since you are pretty amazing! You should be very proud, but if you read the discussions plenty of people like you have been rejected from these schools…
Stanford and MIT
Harvard and Yale
Columbia

Low Reaches!
Carnegie Mellon (CS)
Cornell
Duke

Safeties! Basically you are getting into these places.
Univers. of Miami
University of Florida
Georgia Tech

High match is a school that you would fit into perfectly…It would be surprising if you got turned down by a high match school.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1252493-what-my-chances.html</a></p>

Keep in mind that while being Hispanic helps, it’s not a big boost at top colleges today as they get lots of highly qualified Hispanic candidates. Generally goes to low income, inner city Hispanics at this level of school. Regardless, it’s not the boost being black or native American is.

Yeah obviously black and native american give a larger boost… But I find it interesting that lower income hispanics are more advantaged than higher income. With all the same stats and essays, wouldn’t they prefer someone that can pay the full fee?

Of course if they write their essay about struggle with poverty or lack of opportunities it is more likely that they will appeal more to the Adcoms. But with the same things I don’t know…

No, being low income is a tip factor at every ivy. An increasingly larger percentage of every ivy class is comprised of low income minorities each year.

These schools a wealthy and can afford to meet everyone’s need. They get plenty of upper middle class and wealthy kids from their feeder school and legacy pools. upper middle class blacks also don’t get the boost low income blacks do.

bumpity bump

Anyone elsee?? Ill chance back

Bump!!! (10chars)

Cmon guus anyone else wanna give me a chance, pleaseeee il chance back!!
