Hi guys, Im a Junior at top southern private university, and Im starting to think about what to do after college. Im really strongly considering going into Econ Grad school, and I was wondering what tier of schools I should be aiming for.

Stats:
-Majoring in Econ and Math, Minor in Physics

-3.7 GPA (I should have this at least up to 3.75 by the end of the year). My GPA is basically the same for my major and non major classes.

-In math, I have taken Real Analysis, Linear Algebra and am taking Statistics and Topology now.

-In econ, I have taken intermediate macro and micro, and a slew of electives. I'll take econometrics next year.

-Next semester Ill be doing study abroad with the INSTEP program in Cambridge studying Econ.

-Additionally, I will at the end of the semester have written a law journal article with a few friends that I am 99% sure we will be able to get published. (Not sure how much this matters since it will be a law journal article).

-Worked last summer doing research with a professor in our Economics department and I am confident that he will be able to write me a good letter of recommendation.

-I could write about other work experience/extra-curriculars, but I am not sure they are important. Am I correct?

-Finally, I have not taken the GREs yet, but I am a math major, and generally test pretty well, so I am confident that I will get near an 800.

So what do you guys think? I can give you any additional information that you need. Do you think I could get into an NYU or a Columbia? Where should I be aiming? What else can I do at this point to boost my chances (Ill work on an Econ honors thesis next year, but it wont be done in time for applications)?

Thanks in advance,
