I applied EA to University of Michigan and I am freaking out because the decisions are coming out this week. I want to get more input on my chances so I know what to expect. Thanks in advance for all the help!
Here’s some information:
- OUT OF STATE
-ACT: 33 (32 english, 34 math, 32 reading, 35 science)
-SAT II: 800 math II, 700 Bio
-GPA (U of M calculation): 3.84
-Weighted GPA: 4.38
-Extracurriculars: President of NHS, President of Math Honor Society, Vice President of a UNICEF club, Quizbowl, Debate Team, Lions Club, FBLA, and some other honor societies
-Awards: FBLA Nationals, AP Scholar with Distinction, and National Quizbowl Competition
-Common App essay: I wrote about working, realizing the value of a dollar, and trying to become more self-sufficient by not using my parents’ money
-Supplemental Essays: I do not think my essays were that good- The essay about my favorite activity was about UNICEF, in which I talked about my commitment to global health and making change at a greater level. My community essay was about the South Asian association I created, and my why michigan essay I felt was the worst. It was about UROP and other research opportunities at LSA allowing me to pursue medicine, and also about the emphasis on study abroad programs like GIEU. I should have talked more about my love for the campus, but instead wrote a generic essay because I thought I should focus on academics.
What are my chances?
