Chance me at USC, BC, WUSL (Stats-wise)

USC, Boston College, Washington University, St. Louis

9 - 11 Weighted GPA: 4.03
9 - 11 Unweighted GPA: 3.69

7 APs, 4 or 5 Honor classes

Easily within top 25% of class, but not 10% at a very competitive CA high school

2300 SAT
800s on SAT IIs

Had a really bad second semester during junior year due to personal reasons that will be expressed in counselor's letter.

300+ hours of community service
100+ hours of work experience

Uc gpa: 4.32 (10-11; A- = 4.0)

Someone chance me please :[

Are you sure your UC GPA is a 4.3? You say you had a bad junior year, yet in order to get a weighted gpa ( 8 semester MAX) of that value, you would probably only have 1 or 2 B’s. That’s not what I’d call a bad year.

Regardless, Boston college should be a safe match. USC will be harder (60/40 in your favor), while WUSTL would probably be a ever so slight reach (40/60).

I’m currently a sophomore at BC, and I think you have a fair shot of getting in. I think admissions here would be very impressed with your amount of community service (especially where we’re a Jesuit university), and your SAT and SAT II scores are definitely high enough. For comparison my SAT combined score was only 2050, and by brother, who also got into BC, only had a 1980. I don’t know if you hold any leadership positions in high school, but that certainly helps as well. However, I would say your GPA is a little low (my brother and I both had weighted GPAs in the 4.30s and we went to a fairly competitive school in MA), but if you suffered extraordinary circumstances outside your control your Junior year I suppose they would take that into consideration. Once again though, I think you have a good chance at BC at least.

it should be about 4.3!
i just recalculated and i got 4.29 (dropped due to summer courses which only count up to 4.0)
here are my 10-11 grades

7 A’s (2 Honors)
6 A’s, 1 B (2 Honors)
3 A’s, 2 B’s, 1 C (3 APs, 2 Honors)
5 A’s (2 APs, 2 Honors)
2 A’s (Summer courses for school credit)

yes, these are all academic courses, except for 2 semesters Art, which was needed to fulfill my arts credit. PE was not taken during these years.

Thanks for both your replies!
I am definitely going to apply to all three schools, but this has given me some hope!

From what I can see, Washington U might be the most difficult to get into for me, especially because they don’t have a supplemental essay where I can make myself stand out. Does anyone have any opinions on my chance at WUSL?

Could anyone elaborate on my chances at WUSTL? :D
