Chance me baby!

ok so, right now i'm thinking of applying to:
Yale (EA/legacy), Harvard, Columbia... + safties (obviously)

About me:
african-american/from Maryland/rising junior

ok so here goes:

GPA: 3.93/4.0 (UW) 4.4 (W)
PSAT: 220
AP: Government-took the class (5), Human Geography-Self Study (5), Psychology-Self Study (5)

Here are my clubs/Activities

Junior Statesmen of America (founder/president)
FBLA (MD State officer/school parliamentarian)
Drama (good roles and hopefully better now that i'm gonna be a junior)
Piano (student at Peabody & played for 9 years)
Band (first chair/wind ensemble - flute)
Philosophy club (founder/president)
Ecology Club (VP)
SGA (rep to the board of ed)
County student council (health/social issues coordinator)
Cure club (VP public affairs)
Young Democrats (founder/president- currently raising money for clinton)
Best Buddies

Selected for a couple prestigious leadership programs in my county

passions lie within the arts (i do lots of art, plays, music)

did Summer@BrownUniversity this summer

Course schedule for junior year (most challenging year):
AP Bio
AP World Hist
AP environmental science
AP Calc AB
AP English
Spanish 4
Band

tons of fundraising/community service (it's ridiculous)

Very impressive you self-studying and getting 5s on two AP exams--that will help you tons at these schools. Also, the "Summer at Brown" shows you are serious about going to an Ivy and have the smarts to do so.

So far:

Yale (legacy)--match to slight reach
Harvard--match to slight reach
Columbia--match

All of what you will end up in terms of "chances" will depend on your junior year grades and your test scores to go with the other credentials.

Not matches.

Never matches. All reaches. Maryland is a competitive state. Obviously you're in the running and your legacy at Yale will help. But you're just as likely to get one as you are to be rejected by all 3.

I'm an african american girl from Maryland. And I have friends who are African American girls from Maryland and Virginia. Some of them had better stats and were waitlisted or rejected.

You're a good applicant, obviously. But don't let the above post get your hopes up. Being good isn't always good enough.

i forgot to add some activities:

starting research at Johns Hopkins in psychology this year

I'm a member of the Maryland Technology Honors Society

I founded a tutoring service (about 2 hours per week) plus some volunteer tutoring @ church on sundays
