Chance me ? Brown (ED), Columbia (RD), and Amherst (RD)

Hi guys, sorry to make a chance post so early on, but I am really looking for input on my chances of getting in to Brown University (ED), Columbia University (RD), and Amherst (RD). I understand that these three schools are all really difficult ivy league schools, and they might be a reach, but please tell me your thoughts on my chances. Thank you! I am most likely applying to Brown as ED. I am a rising senior in high school.

Here are my stats:

  • Female from California
  • First Generation College Student
  • Attending a well known arts school for Creative Writing
  • Definitely applying as English major, possibly looking into Medieval Studies

Rank: Unavailable

AP’s:

  • AP World - 4
  • AP Calc AB - 4
  • APUSH - 5
  • AP Bio - 5
  • AP Lang - 5

Awards:

  • National History Day Judge’s Pick
  • Most likely a National Merit Scholar/Finalist (good PSAT score)
  • AP Scholar, etc.
  • Best Freshman in school band, Most Improved Section Award (x2) in intermediate/advanced band

Activities/Extracurriculars:

  • Amnesty International President and Founder at my school (3 Years)
  • CSF/NHS Member
  • Founded Student Run Non-Profit Organization based on community arts volunteering - 100+ students involved, and I am the Benefit Concert coordinator, I raise $1000 to 1500 dollars a year to donate to causes like domestic violence, UNICEF, natural disasters, etc; monthly senior center production and more
  • Transferred from my arts school’s Instrumental Music conservatory to Creative Writing conservatory in my senior year

  • Columbia University Constitutional Law Summer class
  • Was in school intermediate and advanced orchestra/band until senior year; traveled to Washington DC during the summer to play with military bands

Recommendations:

  • APUSH Teacher - Hoping to get a really amazing recommendation, I am really close to this teacher
  • AP Calc Teacher - Getting a decent rec, he thinks I am a good student
  • Counselor Rec - My counselor knows who I am and has written good recs in the past for my summer programs

I am mostly worried about my lack of awards… I think my common app essay will be good because I am a decent writer… Thank you so much!

Bump .

Bump please !

GPA?

Your majoring in creative writing which will make it fairly easy to see how well you can write from your app. Personally I always though Brown liked more of the artistic types so I actually think you have a great chance. Just make sure you know how you would handle the open curriculum that Brown has.

Unweighted GPA is 3.94 , Weighted is 4.44, sorry forgot to put that in haha!

Thank you so much !
