Nhs
Nshs
Interact- VP junior year
SOS (community service)- sr. Treasurer (there are 2 bc the club has 1600 members)
Fbla sophomore year- counted money for school store every week all year
Unite for health/ pediatric entertainment program.
87.5 hours of community service so far; should be about 150 hours by the end of high school. I lived in Vietnam for 2 years when i was younger, thought that might make for a good essay. I've also been chosen to attend girls' state at Texas Lutheran university this summer, and am a member of my district Representative's Congressional youth advisory council. My mom went to KU and my dad went to mizzou, so no connections.
Am also upper middle class suburban white female from a very reputable public high school in texas.

I was also on my school’s volleyball team freshman year. And I plan on majoring in Biology with a specialization in behavioral science…

My son had very similar stats last year and was accepted. You look good

Would you mind if I asked how he did in regards to financial aid?

That’s one reason he is not attending. He received a very small amount of academic aid in a scholarship, but most of his aid was in the form of loans and work study. I don’t remember exact amounts but it barely put a dent in his COA.

I’d say you can definitely get in. I got in with similar stats but less APs and leadership. And as a biology major I can say that BU is great for biology, especially behavior. Professor Traniello is in charge of the behavioral biology program and is fantastic (if you’re seriously interested in BU then I’d recommend emailing him jft@bu.edu).

As for financial aid, I’ve found in my experience and those who I’ve talked to that BU is very fair. They try to give you what you deserve based on your situation and match your CSS profile. Academics may play a small part in whether or not you get more loans or more grants but you seem like a strong student. For me it was less to go here than an instate public school with housing and board and that’s with only a few thousand in loans per year and mostly grants. However, I would definitely not describe my background as “upper middle class”. The best person for advice on how much aid to expect on your CSS profile is your family accountant.

You may want to do better on SAT but this might be too late of a post.
