Chance Me (Chemical Engineering for UC's)

I am a second semester junior right now and is going to school at a competitive high school in Bay Area, California.

Rate my chances for getting into UC schools as a chemical engineering major?
(Preferably UCI, UCD, UCSD - Cal and UCLA too but those are a long stretch)

SAT: 1970 (Will retake in March, aiming for a 2100+. For now, just assume that 1970 is my final SAT score.)

ACT: 30 (Will retake as well)

SAT 2: Chinese: 760, MathII: 720 (Will retake), Chemistry, Biology, Physics(maybe)
I have not taken the science SAT II's stated above, but I am expecting an 800 for Chem, 750-800 for Bio. Don't know what to expect for physics.

UW UC GPA: 3.77 (Expecting a 4.0 2nd semester Junior year)
W UC GPA: 4.14

AP/ Honors classes: AP Chinese (5), Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry (currently enrolled), AP Calc AB (currently enrolled)

Senior Year AP/Honors: AP Econ, AP Gov, AP Compsci, AP Calc BC, Physics Honors

Extracurricular (not my strongest point):

Officer for Chinese Club

Member of Key Club, Science and Engineering Club, Chinese National Honor Society, DECA

Volunteer for WCEO (A summer program for kids) as a TA for the past 2 years, and planning to this summer as well.

Played recreational soccer (haha) for the past 6 years

JV Soccer team Sophomore Year

Volunteer at a food bank about twice a week

Competed in the Tech Challenge Sophomore year and completed the challenge, no award though

Aspiring to start a clothing brand (If this happens, it might be the extracurricular that makes me different from others)

Thoughts, anyone?

I wouldn’t say Cal and UCLA are stretches for you and you have a chance at those schools. Currently, Your ACT is better than your SAT and since I know how little time you will have in the last few months of your junior year, considering just focusing on the one you are better at. You can also take it your senior year after studying over the summer too if you don’t get the score you want in March. Finish your junior year strong and I would recommend applying to Cal and UCLA. Cal is at the very top in chemical engineering.
If your scores stay the same,
Cal: Low Reach
UCLA: High Match
UCSD: Match
UCI, UCD: Low Match

Hi, thanks for replying!
I’m a little new here, so I’m not very familiar with these terms like “low match”, “low reach”, etc. Is it possible that you could explain what they mean?

For example:
When you say “low match”, does that mean that I have a lesser chance of getting into those schools than the ones you rate “high match”? I was confused cause you rated UCLA as a high match which UCI and UCD as low matches.

Thanks!

From most difficult to least difficult:
High Reach
Reach
Low Reach
High Match
Match
Low Match
High Safety
Safety

If your SAT score remains the same (below 2000), I’d say UCB and UCLA are high reaches for you. UCSD: low reach, UCD: match. Other UCs: safety
I know you are expecting excellent SAT subj scores. My projection is based on you meeting these goals.

Thanks guys for answering!

You guys definitely made me a lot more relieved, I thought that I wouldn’t even be able to get into a UC…

@myboby123, I’m definitely going to try really hard to reach my projected goals!

Anyone else?
