Chance Me / College Recommendations

Hi! I’m a rising senior and am starting my college applications this summer.I’m still deciding on my college list but have decided on some schools that I’m planning on applying to. I’m an Indian female from a public (yet competitive) high school. I plan on majoring in Neuroscience and am interested in Pre-Med. Whether it be medical school or research in the medical field, medicine is my ultimate goal. Although I have my safeties in check, I’m still deciding on my matches and reaches. I’m also lowkey paranoid about giving out my safeties because they’re instate lol. So, I guess I’m making this post in order to one, get a rough estimate for the reaches that I’m planning on applying to(I know that college admissions is a gamble, but you know it’s nice to kinda have a little insight) and two, get some recommendations for other schools to look into. I’m honestly open to all options and am pretty adaptable in any environment.

Schools I’m applying for:
Emory University (ED, my for sure dream school)
Duke University
Brown University

Stats:
4.66 W/ 3.75 UW GPA
Class Rank: 95/453
APS: 2 (Bio and World) Sophomore year, 4 (Gov, APUSH, Lang, and APES) junior, and I’ll be taking one (Stats) senior year
SAT: 1250 (first time and only time I took it and it was in November. Based on practice, I should get a 1390 or higher next time).

ECs:
Speech and Debate - 4 years, National qualifier 2 times (Quarterfinalist at Nats both times), State Champion in my event, ranked 2nd in my state)
College Research - 2 years (junior and senior year summer), hosted a poster session, wrote two papers
Founded and organized a seminar my sophomore year, had over 70+ people attend, talked about anxiety and depression in teenagers, sponsored by local organization
Creative Writing - Attended my district’s Fine Arts Program, published an interview with a magazine under the program, received an award from Scholastic
Camp Counselor at my local Children’s Museum - sophomore year, put in about 80 hours

I have other ECs, but I feel like those are the most stand out ones

Academic Awards/ Achievements:
National Honors Society
AP Scholar with ___ (hopefully this year)
NSDA Academic All American (will be receiving this year)

Again, I know that there is much more than stats and ECs that make an application, but I’ve always wanted to make a post like this for some reason and figured why not. Let me know if there’s anything I’ve missed!

You’re in a tough demographic group. Being Indian and also interested in pre-med means that there are lot of other students just like you. So you’ll be competing in a tough pool.

Your class rank is slightly outside of the top 20%. This is good, but I’m not sure it is high enough that you’ll be accepted during the ED1 round. Sometimes they will look past GPA if you have other hooks (URM, legacy, athlete).

Do you have access to scattergrams? If so have previous applicants been accepted to Emory with your GPA?
