Hi everyone! I’m applying to W&M as instate and ED next fall. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to take either ACT or SAT due to covid-19 cancellations but I will list my anticipated score range below. Any feedback would be SOO helpful!
SAT: 1380
ACT: 32-33 (average from practice tests)
Female, white/pacific islander
GPA: 4.2 W, 3.8 UW
8 Total AP/DE classes with A’s (2 B’s)
Extracurriculars:
-International Thespian Society President (11-12)
-Director of marketing/publicity for school theatre program (11-12)
-Work at a dance studio all 4 years, prepare progressive lesson plans helping both physical and mental growth of preschool children
-Broadcasting Club co-founder
-Choreographer for school musicals (10-12)
-Unpaid internship at Broadway summer camp
-Jr Coach: trained elementary age kids to run 5k (9-10)
-Student Advisory Planning Team-Chosen to attend monthly meetings at local highschools (11)
-Junie B. Jones Musical- paid Choreographer at summer camp (11)
As for the SAT/ACT question, I would not be overly worried about the status of taking the SAT/ACT because, if for some reason you absolutely cannot take either test, I believe that there would be many other people in the same situation. Although I do not know, William and Mary could possibly follow other schools and become test-optional for the class of 2025.
As for your chance of being accepted, I do not know if I am the best one to judge as I am currently on the waitlist for W&M, but your stats and extracurriculars seem impressive. As W&M’s SAT range is around 1300-1480 and their ACT range around 29-33, I would try as hard as you can to get to the top of the range if not over. Maintain a good GPA though. Speaking as someone who is on the waitlist and had a not-so-great GPA but a stellar SAT, make sure you maintain good grades.
Finally, do not get discouraged or encouraged by anything you read on College Confidential. College admissions are a dice roll and there are always people who seem more qualified and are denied as well as those who seem less qualified and are admitted.
