Chance Me for a Princeton, Dartmouth, Duke

Still deciding where i want to apply early to, I am probably going to do ECE but having a liberal arts education to go with that is important to me as well.

SAT 1: 730 Reading, 750 Writing, 790 Math=2270

GPA: Freshman year 3.0 (0/1 honors classes available)
Sophomore year 3.7 (1 AP, 1 honors classes)
Junior year 3.9 (3 honors classes, 2 APs)
Senior year: Most likely 3.8 (5 APs, 1 honors class)

Voulenteer Work: approx 200 hours in between volunteering at 5ks, peer tutoring and voulentering at an Orphanage for the disabled in Sudan (my home country)

Essay: About how my time at the orphanage got me to get my **** together after sophomore year.

Hooks: African American(1st generation immigrant) in engineering?

Bump bump bump

You want us to tell you that you will get into all those schools, right? Otherwise, why would you even ask us for chances for undeniably reach schools?

High-acheiving URM = Admission

The only issue I see is the low freshman year GPA. Do really well first quarter senior year. These schools are a reach for anybody so I’d still say reach but best of luck!

Perhaps, but probably not. For the most part, people post chance threads for top schools because they’re legitimately curious about whether not they have a chance at all. As mostly rising seniors, we’re not all masters of the college admissions process yet, so how do we know if we should even bother applying to a school like Princeton? For example, I posted a chance thread for Harvard, Yale, and Brown (among non top-20 schools), and I didn’t make it in order to boost my ego; I actually didn’t know whether my courseload, ECs, and scores were good enough to warrant applying to those schools at all.

Therefore, for Ivy chance threads and the like, there are 3 possible responses one can give:

 1. I wouldn’t recommend applying here, as your stats/ECs/etc. don’t quite reach the target range for that school.
 2. This school is a very high reach for you, but with some amazing essays/recs/etc., you could still possibly get in.
 3. Your profile looks great–you have just as high a chance at admission as any other highly competitive applicant.

Fortunately, OP, you fall in group #3 :)
