Hello,
I am an international applicant from India.
I am applying to the following colleges for a BS in economics:
Princeton
Amherst
UCLA
Dartmouth
UChicago
Cornell
UPenn
UMich
Boston Uni
NYU
UW Madison
UC Berkeley
Indiana State Uni
Ohio State

I have completed my 9th and 10th from India's Central Board of Secondary education
with a cumulative GPA of 9.8/10.0. That is in the top 8% all over India.
Then, I shifted to Maharashtra State Board in an integrated program (integrated programs are for students pursuing all india level entrance exams for universities. These programs are among coaching classes and dummy colleges. We dont go to college, we only go to coaching classes and we have our attendance marked at our college).
Maharashtra state board is one of the 30 state boards of India. Due to my integrated approach, I only concentrated on my studies to crack the entrance exams and hence i scored 66% in my 11th standard while the school topper was a whopping 92%.

What chances do i have?
Also, are the college prep course requirements same for International students?

You are obviously extremely well qualified. If you were in the US I’d say all of those schools would be reaches. However, you are an international and that hurts your chances a lot. You could make most of those schools if you write a great, unique essay.

Princeton - low reach/reach
Amherst - low reach/reach
UCLA - match/high match
Dartmouth - low reach
UChicago - low reach
Cornell - high match
UPenn - low reach/reach
UMich - match/high match
Boston Uni - low match/safety
NYU - match/high match
UW Madison - low match/match
UC Berkeley - high match
Indiana State Uni - safety
Ohio State - satefy
Don’t even consider UT Arlington or Ole Miss, you have very good chances and should get into at least one of Princeton/Amherst/Dartmouth/UChicago/UPenn and into most of the other schools. Good luck!

Princeton - high reach
Amherst - mid reach
UCLA - high match
Dartmouth - mid reach
UChicago - mid reach
Cornell - low reach
UPenn - high reach
UMich - high match
BU - low match
NYU - mid match
UW Madison - low match
UC Berkeley - low reach
Indiana State - safety
Ohio State - satefy

Thank you for “chancing” me. I am wondering that whether giving the SAT or ACT again and aiming for a perfect score would improve my chances at the so called reaches?
I really don’t know the system, so help me out here please?

could you suggest some other schools? my counselor here in India says that I should apply to ole miss or UT arlington because they are sure to take me, and as i plan to do masters, she recommends that I apply to ivies for PG. Paying four years for Ivy is no problem for me, even with the inflated dollar compared to the Indian rupee. However, does this tactic of applying to lower ranked colleges “just because they will take me” make sense?
