Wow, your common app essay could have a theme of "finding your voice" since you can talk about your stuttering and your liberal opinions within your conservative community!!

Brown-Reach
Tufts-Low reach
Columbia-Reach
University of Michigan-Match
Wash U-match
Cornell-low reach
NYU-low reach

You'd have an even better chance if you bring up the SAT scores and work on your essay about stuttering I guess.

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/657846-chance-international-sophomore-weird-stats.html

I think your list is pretty good, except I don't think you have a safe enough safety with Michigan out of state. You probably want to take the SAT again.
Columbia is a reach for everybody, and so are Brown and Cornell, and Tufts and WashU aren't definites, either.
As for the stuttering, I think it could make for a good "overcame adversity" essay. I think the key to such an essay is that the problem is a serious one (which a stutter certainly can be), and that you have really overcome it significantly.

Brown - High Reach
Tufts - Low Reach/High Match
Columbia - Reach
U Mich - Match
Wash U - Low Reach
Cornell - Reach
NYU - Low Reach

What makes YOU special, over and above the other thousands of candidates? that's what you should try answer.

I'd appreciate you chancing me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/657806-chance-me-i-have-cookies-i-ll-chance-back.html

bumpbump..

Brown I think is a reach for you, although you still have a decent shot. Columbia I think is in that same category as well. The others I think you have good shots at. Cornell I think you will get in, however dont count on my opinion. good luck in whatever happens. Judging by those stats and your high school career thus far, it looks like you'll be fine.

Cornell is a good shot for u. you should make it. Up your sat scores for brown.

chance me back

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/659789-what-my-chances-getting-into-some-these-schools.html#post1061899674

pleasee!!!

This year Brown will officially move into the taking only 10% category. When you factor in that 40% of the class is hooked, this puts Brown into the territory of the crap shoot schools. So even the val/2350 candidates who would have glided in easily three or four years ago are no longer shoo ins. The big issue is to find some way to stand out after you have the stats.

i can read your essay and comment on it. email me if you want.

Ha thanks man, but I havent even started it yet. I also forgot to add that i'm a legacy at columbia
