As for activities outside of school I have play piano 4 years and performed as a singer for 7.
I have provided childcare for a family nearby everyday after school for 3 years. (That’s my main job)
I have been applying for jobs all over the place for a while now but most people want to hire college students and adults due to the income.
I am a member of the DAR.
I just started volunteering as a mentor for children who have suffered from abuse and are in hiding at the Heartly House.

I am going to take the SAT in October and the World History Subject SAT in Dec. Then next summer I will attend Girls State (I will apply at least) and I will also apply to page for my state senate.

I have been able to trace heritage to multiple Native American tribes. I have documented evidence that I am between 1/32 and 1/16 Native American/Alaskian.
I want to double major in Creative Writing and either Psych or Sociology. Then I want to go to grad school for law.
Finally, Brown is my top choice. I add this detail because Admin at Brown have rated this a big factor in acceptance.

You’re doing pretty good so far, keep up the A’s. For extracurricular, it is pretty impressive, but It’s better if you focus on only a few extracurricular and play a very big role in them. It’s great that you’re really involved, but most college admission officers don’t want to see a laundry list. Pick the ones that are either related to your major or that you feel you can create a big impact on, and focus more on those.

And aim for a 2000 or higher in your SAT. You probably won’t be able to get that score in your first sitting, but with some prep you should be able to.

I don’t know if I can really chance you without scores or junior/senior year done, but it looks like you’re on the right track. Like Chocolate20 said, focus on a few ECs. It sounds like you’re super-involved and it’s great that you’ve already taken APs (I couldn’t take any until junior year!). Also, Native American heritage could potentially make a huge difference.
Chance me back?

Keep up the good work! You look well qualified!!

Hey Remybear, I already chanced you, but you mentioned that you’re interested in summer@brown on my thread! IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I took Lab Research in Biomedicine! The professor was fun, engaging, and made the class enjoyable! Living in the dorms was a great experience (although I did not get a single hot shower while I was there, but my friends in other dorms did)! You meet so many amazing people and the whole experience just makes you fall in love with Brown! When I went, I liked the school a lot for the academics, but I didn’t think I wanted to go because of the location (I am not really a fan of city schools), but I fell in love with it and will probably apply ED! Good luck with getting in, although I am confident you will be accepted to the summer program! Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience there!

Presumably if and only if you demonstrate why Brown is the best school for you and why you’re a great fit for it. You need to show that. Without those details, chance threads are pointless. As great as their intentions are, none of the above posters have yet been accepted to Brown. And those of us who have are not admissions officers either…what we say really doesn’t matter at all.

Agreed with Uroogla: Brown makes “Why Brown” part of their application for a reason.

Back when I was looking at schools, I attended a Harvard information session. They said that they could take their admitted class, replace it with the next top 1600 applications, and the scores/GPAs/general resumes would be almost indistinguishable. With Brown’s current admissions climate, I’m sure they could say the same thing. Your “Why School X” must be extremely compelling for you to secure admission.

Uroogla, I agree with your comment about the details to the chance responses being the most important and I appreciate your feedback.

“I have been able to trace heritage to multiple Native American tribes. I have documented evidence that I am between 1/32 and 1/16 Native American/Alaskian” Do you have a tribal registration number? What tribe?

So I just got my SAT scores and I got:
Math: 600
Reading:620
Writing: 680
and an 8 on my essay
Will this hurt my chances a lot? I am planning on retaking it in the fall because I’m only a junior.

A 1900 is not high enough for Brown.

^ True, but the OP took it fall of Junior year. With a years worth of studying it could easily be north of 2100.

Also, I personally know people who got into Brown with SATs in the 1900. Brown doesn’t rely on SAT scores as much as other schools do.
