Chance me for Brown? Thanks!

I’m not sure what information is relevant so I’m just going to put everything I can think of haha.

I’m a current junior living in a suburb of Cleveland, OH. I’m from a white, middle class family with divorced parents.

ACT: 35 composite (34 math, 34 science, 36 english, 35 reading)
GPA: 3.88 UW, 4.33 W
APs: AP World History (Freshman; 3), AP Seminar (Sophomore; 4), AP Music Theory (Sophomore; 4), AP Physics 1 (Sophomore; 3), AP US History (Sophomore; 5) – I’m currently enrolled in AP Research, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, AP English Language, and AP US Government and I would predict I’ll get all 4s and 5s
ECs: Heavily involved in theater. I was cast in 1 play and 2 musicals through my school freshman and sophomore years, and now I’m the assistant director for the play (junior year). Over the summer I’ve been cast in 2 musicals and assistant directed one. I’m the president of drama club and was last year as well. I am a section leader for 2 choirs (one auditioned and one not). I also participate in public forum debate and my partner and I were ranked 17 out of 88 teams at a large tournament last season. I also attend Anatomy Club meetings to support my friend who started it

I’m concerned that I don’t have enough variety as far as ECs are concerned, but the things I do take up all of my time (I’m at debate practice from 3-4:30 and then back at the school at 5:30 for rehearsal nearly every day. On top of homework and trying to get some sleep, I have very little free time. What are my chances at getting into Brown? It’s one of my top choices.

Also, my school doesn’t rank but its a small, competitive public school(150 in my class) and I’d predict that I’m top 5-10%

Also, I’m an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Honor Thespian for International Thespian Society

Number one, don’t worry about the variety of your ECs. You’re what’s known as a ‘spiky’ kid rather than a ‘well rounded’ kid. You have a strong passion and it shows. This is not a bad thing, it’s a great thing. You should not, repeat NOT, go out and find some other ECs to pad out your resume. That’s fake, and colleges hate fake people. Colleges like to build classes that contain both well rounded people and spiky people.

You should participate in activities outside of the school day because you love them and you want to become better at them.

Keep on top of homework and your physical and mental health and I think you will be a very strong candidate for any college in the country.

A good thing to do as this year progresses is, examine your teachers and figure out which ones would write you the strongest letters of recommendation. This doesn’t necessarily have to be the teachers who you like the most. Figure out which two teachers you have impressed in class and which are the best writers. In the springtime, ask those teachers if they feel that they could write you a positive letter of recommendation.

Good luck, and do try to find time to enjoy the time as it goes by.

Thank you!!
