<p>Brown and Columbia will be a long reach, with SC a reach in the competition and scores of her similar demographics. I would caution about using UW as safety school, applying out of state, the have really transformed themselves the last 10-15 years. In fact, their endowment is only behind SC and Stanford on the west coast. Science and technology departments are first rate and very competitive…and they have a very competitive Asian applicant pool.</p>

<p>To clarify, U of Washington has the 3rd largest endowment on the west coast and thus in terms of financial aid, can offer, in some instances, very competitive packages relative to other institutions. The school is becoming increasing popular in Asia, and moreover the a Seattle area has a growing Asian population–that is to say, it is a very competitive place to gain admission from an Asian applicant perspective.</p>
