Chance me for brown?

Hi! I’m currently a junior in hs and brown is my dream school. I’m planning on applying early decision next year so for the class of 2022. and idk if this helps at all but my sibling goes there?

It would be amazing if you guys could help me so I can improve within the next year.

So here are my stats:

I haven’t taken the ACT yet but I’ve been getting 32s and 31s on practice tests so hopefully I study more and my score is around a 34 when I take it in February

Grades:
-My school doesn’t rank and I’ve gotten straight a’s (so far)
-Including next year, I’ll have 6 ap classes. I’ve only taken the psych test so far and I got a 4.

EC:

  • layout editor for school newspaper
    -art club Vice President
-deca: went to nationals last year and qualified for states 9th and 10th grade
-model un 9th and 10th grade
-don’t wanna be too specific but I started an organization that helps those in poverty and we reached $1m in donations, won 3 small grants, 1 nationwide grant
-started a club for the organization above: founder and president
-4 years varsity cross country, captain for one year
-other small clubs that are insignificant and I probably won’t put on my application
-job: worked at pool for a summer, started an online business selling clothes I make but it’s not a big well known company or anything

Community service:
A bunch of hours from deca and 500 from organization I started

Summer activities: I did an engineering program at a college but I don’t intend on doing anything related to that. I’m thinking of doing architecture

Awards: I don’t want to be specific for privacy reasons but I was a finalist for a big service award, the 4 grants mentioned above

I also plan on submitting an art portfolio

I’m mostly worried about leadership, act scores, and not having a very rigorous course load cause I know some other people applying to Brown and it feels like they are waaaaay more prepared than me

and Idk if this could be a hook or maybe an essay topic but I have two dads. Could that help?

Oh also I’m from ny which is pretty competitive I think
Thanks!!

I think you have a really good chance at getting in! You show real initiative and your ECs are really well rounded; that’s what colleges want to see. I wouldn’t bank on it, because with most of these things you can never tell. I think it’s very likely, though.

I really have no idea since I’m still in the applying phase, but your extracurriculars are really impressive. I would think that the leadership concern is obsolete since you started your own organization. You have also taken initiative to obtain multiple grants. You’re a junior so you have time to work on your ACT, which would be good to do to increase your chances of getting in. I would make sure to take a lot of course rigor, but your list is really impressive. Good luck!

You’re extracurriculars are killer. I honestly think you’ll get in unless you really bomb senior year.

$1m in donations…several grants…

If you can manage a great ACT score, and don’t totally flop your essay, it’d be pretty hard to believe that they wouldn’t accept you.

If you’re worried about leadership…uh…don’t be. You started a nonprofit. That raised a million dollars. In high school  If you haven’t already, register your nonprofit as a 501c3. I think you have to pay a fee to do that but long term, it’ll give you both credibility and financial benefits both of which would probably help you attract even more donations. Brown has a pretty fluid academic policy that seems to value deep, tailored education over like drill and kill memorize everything bullshit so your academic profile is all good. And even if it weren’t…those extracurriculars tho…Good luck!

With your extracurriculars of raising a MILLION DOLLARS, there is NO WAY they wouldn’t accept you. Is there any way to verify your million dollar grants? Like national newspaper press about you? I would imagine that your state newspapers would profile you.
