ACT is honestly too low
retake up to a 28

I toured Boston University earlier this week and your ACT score is below their average. Try to get at least a 32 because that’ll put you in the 50th percentile of applicants. Hope this helps!

Your GPA is slightly lower than their average of 3.60, especially since you didn’t take a lot of advanced classes, and your ACT is a lot lower than their average of 32. You should try to get at least a 33 to balance out your GPA. I would get a tutor or try taking the SATs instead. Some people do better on one than the other. Your ECs are good.

Hey! I’m applying to BU next year too! Your EC’s look really good, but I would recommend taking your ACT again!

If you really want to go to BU I would suggest applying to CGS as well within BU

Is BU test optional, or do they only report scores from some colleges. To be honest going up 4 ACT points in one year is not only unprecedented, its shady.
OT:
By the looks of it your chances are slim to none. However still apply because you never know. Do you have any hooks?

I’m applying ED for BU next year, anyone else?

check out their common data set-that’s always the best way to know how many students got in with similar stats in the past year.

I would say try to get it up to a 28 and apply ED. I was accepted EDI with a 28 ACT and a 3.3 UW. I’m going to BU in the fall BTW!!
Good luck!!

For the class of 2021 BU’s average admitted ACT and GPA were 32 and 3.8 respectively, so I would stand to say that BU is a low to mid reach for you, mostly because of your ACT. It doesn’t really matter what the statistics are of kids who enrolled are because you have to be admitted before you enroll…so judging yourself based on the kids at the lower end of BU’s accepted pool who are obviously more likely to enroll isn’t the best approach for getting gauging your chances of actually be admitted. Nonetheless, I would definitely encourage you to retake the ACT if that is an option, but you can take solace in the fact that BU puts a lot of emphasis on the rigor of your coursework (aka a 3.5 UW from a highly competitive high school bodes well). Good luck!

Hello potential BU 2022, as the people have mentioned your ACT is pretty low for their standards and I would highly recommend you retake it or maybe even take the SAT. Some people test better on the SAT than on the ACT and that could be the case with you. I think you’re EC are solid you just need to focus on raising your test scores and grades as BU is getting more and more selective each year. I would also focus on writing solid essays that express how much you want to attend and relate to the morals and values of BU. If you need any more advice feel free to message me, I’m going to be a freshman starting this fall

Vandemory, I think it is possible to go up four ACT points!! I know somebody who in the math section got it up from a 23 to a 32 with the help of a tutor, it is definitely possible it just takes A LOT of work

@collegehelp786 I WILL ALSO BE APPLING TO BU FOR FALL 2019 . BUT MOST PROBABLY AS AN ED APPLICANT
