Intended major? California resident?
URM status not considered to UC’s since affirmative action was banned by California publics.
You are a strong candidate for all of them. In order to be truly competitive for Stanford (and to some exrent UCB and UCLA) you need to stand out in a stack of overachievers. I don’t get that feel from your EC list. You are very likely to get into USC and the other UCs.
Good luck.
Your rank is somewhat low for someone with 3.96 uwgpa! Perhaps your school has grade inflation?
Stanford - high/reach
USC - high match
UCB - high match/low reach
UCLA - high match/ low reach
UC Davis - match
UC Irvine - match
UC Santa Barbara - match
UC San Diego - match
Im being told by some that I’m really reaching too high with this list, is that true?
If you’re fine attending UCI, UCSB, or UCD, then you’re good. As long as your essays are decent, I don’t see these turning your down.
Have you run the NPCs and are all of those affordable? If not, add either SDSU or Cal Poly SLO.
Not applying to Occidental or any of the Claremonts?
Are my chances for the others low?
I was thinking about Cal Poly SLO but I’m not sure if that is a true safety school.
SLO is no safety school unless you plan to major in some of the higher admit majors such as Dairy Science or Agribiz. It would be Match school.
Its probably a good idea to add UCR and SDSU just to be sure you don’t get shut out.
I definitely dont want to get shut out so adding UCM is probably what I will end up doing
UCM is your default since you’re likely top 9%. Your choice is SDSU or UCR to prevent getting shut out (you also wouldn’t be turned down at Chapman and LMU LA unless you apply for engineering or film, but even these are
The reason it’s impossible for anyone to be considered a shoo-in at UCB/UCLA/UCSD is that they turn down way more qualified applicants than they accept. You’re competitive, so your odds aren’t bad, but you can’t be certain. If nothing works, you’re at UCM by default
(not a bad choice, it’s as good as at least half a dozen state FLAGSHIPS.)
