Your grades are slightly low for the top UCs, such as Cal and UCLA, but going to a very competitive high school could help your cause. Your SAT score is definitely good for all these schools except for maybe Cal and USC.

Cal-reach
UCLA-low reach
UCSD-high match
UCSB-low match
UCD-match
UCI-match
UCSC-safety
USC-low reach
NYU-high match
Boston University-high match
Santa Clara University-match
Pepperdine-match
UW-match

Good luck to you! Chance me back please (:

thanks! and yeah my school is extremely competitive. they’re only about 350 in my class and last year about 10 people went to ivies, 15 people went to cal or ucla, and around the top third of our class ended up going to top 40 schools.

and i know my gpa is quite low. my 10-12 gpa is a bit higher though, around 3.70uw and 4.11w

and i also thought santa clara was my safety. my gpa is only slightly above their average but my sats are way above their middle 50%. i also thought bu and irvine would be a low match

anyone else??

I’m sorry but I don’t know Anything about west coast schools. Congrats on your upward trend in GPA. Can only help. Good luck

The reasons Irvine/Davis are match is because their becoming increasingly selective in their admissions, with extremely overqualified applicants in NON-impacted majors getting rejected left and right. You will most likely like into one of the three, but don’t count on getting in all 3. Santa Barbara should be right along up there with the Irvine and Davis though, so don’t think that SB is going to be a shoo-in. NYU is a match at CAS but a reach at Stern. USC/UCLA/UCSD/UCB are all reaches. Your major would help us chance you.

I’m majoring in mathematics.

This is what I think.

Berkeley-reach
UCLA-low reach
UCSD-high match
UCSB-low match
UCD-low match
UCI-low match
UCSC-safety
USC-high match
NYU-high match
Boston University-match
Santa Clara University-low match
Pepperdine-match
UW-match

Take into account that UCs don’t let you superscore, so their percentiles make the school seem easier to get into than it really is. Nothing on the app is really amazing, and if you didn’t take any AP/IB classes that certainly doesn’t help. Something amazing is necessary for top schools. I would like to know your class rank.
Chance back?

Berkeley- reach (as is for everyone almost)
UCLA- reach
UCSD- high match
UCSB- you’re in
UCD- you’re in
UCI- you’re in
UCSC- don’t even worry about it
USC- low reach/high match
NYU-high match
Boston University-match
Santa Clara University-low match
Pepperdine-match
UW- you’re in

great job in high school!
Chance me please?

Thanks everyone!

spicyhot,
My class rank is unfortunately only 68 out of 420 (top 16.5%) as I go to a very competitive public school.
I have taken an okay amount of ap and honor classes. I’ve taken all honor classes available for math and I took Chem AP (and got a 5 on the test) and english lang ap (and got a 4 on the test) junior year. This year I am also taking 3 APs (physics B AP, calc BC AP, and english lit AP.) I hope this helps!

What do other people think?

With better ECs you would stand a higher chance at UCB and UCLA, but I don’t think ECs matter that much overall in the UC system, unfortunately.

Cal- reach
UCLA- reach
UCSD- match
UCSB- low match
UCD- match
UCI- match
UCSC- You’ll easily get in. I know someone (not URM) who got in with a 3.67 GPA and almost no ECs.
Boston University-match

I don’t know much about the others. Good luck and [please chance me back!
