Any schools I should look into, in or out of state?

AP classes? They look at the rigor of the classes. UC’s have limited financial aid, even for us latinos. DD got $307, total! Pomona and SLO are a little less expensive. OOS midwestern schools will want you for your tennis skills (DD received multiple offers, but didn’t want to do midwest, she gets cold here in-state!)

Yes, I have taken a rigorous course load all four years. However, I do not plan on sending my AP scores. Wow, that’s crazy! I’m considering SLO, I’m just worried about how medical schools will view SLO as opposed to a UC(haven’t been able to gather info. on this). Do you know how top tier med schools view SLO? Which schools in the Midwest do you think would be good for me in academia as well as tennis?

I know of a number of students who are at SLO who plan on the medical school field, but I don’t know the stats of acceptances. MCAT’s are what matter.

I have a friend at UCSD who is on the admit comm. for the medical school there. She says they look at the coursework and MCAT’s as well as EC’s. They accepted a girl who did undergrad at Santa Clara; friend said the girl was very “well prepared”. Go figure. Just do your best! DD plans on med school too-she starts davis in 3 weeks.

If your AP scores are low, that may make you less attractive to the top schools. Stanford is a reach. DD is a legacy and didn’t get in with top scores and multiple clubs. Only 7 students from our county got in. Two were from our high school; valedictorian and a clubmeister person.

Re tennis: I deleted the emails, but I found two old emails from small LAC’s:
Bethany College, in Kansas-Coach Vic Bateman and Jacksonville College in Texas.
BTW: we’re paying full fees at UC mostly savings and loans. $32K per year. You may want to seriously look at pomona and slo.

That’s good to hear. Wow, that’s great! Congrats, I have a relative their. Our county only sent two to Stanford, so I’m quite understanding lol. I definitely will look at Pomona and SLO, that’s why I’m also considering out of state privates which give a generous amount. You went to Stanford?

Clubmeister?

Also any suggestions about applying to privates/out of states? I am only planning to take 1 subject test… And do uc’s look at ap scores?
Thank you!

19: Hubby went to Stanford. Clubmeister is a person who joins every club with the intent of being “president” of the club for college apps; becomes an officer in about 15 clubs.

19 you should look at SUNY Buffalo (other daughter is there EE student). DD was on full ride, but messed up in 3rd year. They have a med school and your stats will get you in, but they also have a Daniel Acker Scholarship for URM-full ride in any major. If you can take the cold, look into that scholarship. Indoor and outdoor tennis courts.

Oh nice and wow, I looked that up. I don’t understand why there is such a huge emphasis on being president, at my school(and I assume at others, the hottest always wins lol).

Thanks I will definitely look into SUNY Buffalo and the scholarship. I’m on my phone haha.
