Chance me for Cornell, University of Michigan, and Carnegie Mellon University. Thanks!!!

Hello, I am a rising senior and I am going to apply as either Aerospace engineering or Mechanical engineering. I am a first generation Chinese/Korean American living in California. I am also the first person to go to a university in a low-income family. I am going to apply ED for Cornell and EA for U Mich.

GPA: UW3.7 W 4.15~
ACT: 33
Top 10% for sure, prob top 5% too
I didn't take any APs freshmen and sophomore year. But for Junior year I took 6 APs and English Honors.
Senior Year Course Load:
AP Bio
AP Chem
AP Environmental Science (maybe)
Ap Gov
Ap Calc BC
Multivariate at local college (maybe)
English Normal
Ap European Hitory

EC/Honor
Officer at Interact (community service) Club
President of Science Club
Volunteer at Library since Freshmen Year
California Scholarship Federation

National Honors Society
Ap Scholar
Worked under Dr. Kazadi at Jisan Research institute in creating a thermogradient device that uses no electricity or man power. Focus on Chemical and Mechanical engineering. Summer b4 Junior year
Participate in UCLA High School Summer Research Program. Worked with graduate students in mechanical engineering research lab. Got a letter of Rec from UCLA mechanical & aerospace engineering Chair. Summer b4 Senior year.
(I believe I can write amazing essays due to these two research opportunities I had in engineering)

I didn't really care about school until Junior Year after participating in a research opportunity in Chemical and Mechanical engineering.

Those three schools are my top choices. I am also considering UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, university of Illinois, Purdue, UCLA.

Thank You

The colleges you are applying to are difficult to get into. You might want to retake your ACT. A higher score will not hurt. You have good ECs. You have as good as a chance as anybody else. Good luck!

If UMich is oos for you, it is a low reach to reach for CoE. Your GPA is below admission average while your ACT is just above average.

Cornell engineering requires two subject tests, one in math and one in science. It looks like those are missing from your application, so be sure to take them!

I think you could get into GA tech! I’m from Georgia and I know people that got in with lower test scores and far fewer AP classes.

Bump
