Haha, we have extremely similar stats, and I also want to go to Cornell…

I’m probably applying ED next year, but I also want to know my chances so…

BUMP

you’re solid… CAS is pretty easy… scores/gpa are good… EC’s are really weak though, its just general stuff everyone else does. Make sure your essays are creative and capture cornell.

Haha

This is why I love CC - someone could say that it is easy to get into Cornell with no negative feedback :D

We have similar stats! (except you’re taking Calc b/c as a Junior while I’m in Algebra II, I have a higher SAT, and you are in Marching Band same Jewish stuff, similar clubs, and similar classes next year)

Two questions though, how are you taking AP Physics B next year if it won’t be a course? College Board is dissolving it into AP Physics I and AP Physics II.
Also, what’s your GPA on a 4 and 5 point scale? Do you just divide you 100 point scale by twenty-five? So it’d be 3.78 and 3.94?

I think both of those GPAs are on the lower end. I’ll probably be at a 3.75/4.04 by the end of the year.

I think we’re both slight reaches, maybe not ED, though.

Might be better to just retake ACT and get a higher score instead of wasting your time boosting your SAT score.

I know someone who got in with a 34 ACT and a lower SAT score than yours.

But it’s up to you, if you think you have a better chance of improving SAT than ACT, go for it.

@UCschoolsftw
I am probably taking Physics 2,im in an argument with the school right now, because they’re telling me not to, but I’m sure I’ll end up doing it

Also, I think I may end up applying to CALS (AEM), but I’m not 100 percent yet

@Petersuu
I don’t think I can improve ACT, every practice test I take I get 33 or below, however I’ve gotten 2200+ on SAT practices

Why not? Instead of Physics B? Do they want you to take Physics I first?
Physics 1 isn’t a prerequisite to Physics 2.

@UCschoolsftw I can’t speak for jamesjunkers, but I am in a similar situation

My school doesn’t want to offer physics 2 (next year only) so kids don’t have to decide which to take… Then after next year, my school is going to make it so kids take 1 as a junior, and 2 as a Senior

However, this is unfair for someone like me, who is taking Regents Physics right now (didn’t feel like taking an AP placement exam), and I have a 100 average… Basically the school is going to make me redo that curriculum? So, I am fighting with the guidance office… I think they understand what I’m saying, and are going to offer it, but if not, I’m just gonna study and take the physics 2 test probably

Obviously this may not be the same case, but I’m giving an example

Good luck on Cornell next year (if you want to go) Hopefully we both make it :)

I think it’s similar to how some schools force people to take AB before BC, even though BC’s only prerequisite is precalculus. Quite annoying, but you have to deal with it.
