Bioenvironmental Engineering would be my pre-med major and I would plan to be a doctor afterwards by going to Med. School. I know you do not need to have the top schools like Cornell etc to be a doctor esp. for bachelor degree but I have some aspirations (like everyone) and those aspirations include Cornell and Yale. Wondering how my chances are impacted.
Major EC’s :
-Research @ UCB and Stanford
-Started two companies (I tutor and give money to cancer foundations to honor my mother’s current fight against it and I also take some money to fund my own science experiments and I save some of it up for my summer trips (3+ years)
-Second company: interviewing veterans esp. WW2 – connects to history hobby (1yr)
-President of Bioenvironmental Club/Polish Culture Club (1yr)
- Zooology/Biotech Mentor for elementary schoolers (1 yr)
-Volunteer at Stanford hospital (150+ hours)
-Member of Young Progressives/Current Events (3 years) (connects to social activism) (attend town hall meetings speak out)
- Helped out in 2016 general election and local elections during Summer 2016
-Member of MUN (3+ years) (I try to get roles in Environmental Policy and have luckily done so) (also connects to activism)
-Self-learned Esperanto (quite the language right?!?)’
-Made own popular magazine about my passion and current happenings in it
Past stuffs:
-ASB Secretary (10th), was a Student Rep. 9th – no positions this year however
-Did debate but quit because not interesting, MUN more interesting
-CTY Distinction with Honors
-Club Swimming for 10+ years
-Summer 9th grade+10th grade: Debate Camp, Volunteering, Research @ UCB
//NOTE: only really began to like environmental science this year – my favorite area before that was Bioengineering but environmental science was one place where I have lots of stories and is a place I really identify in. This would just be a pre-med major
So basically the questions are
- Are my goals realistic of Yale and Cornell?
- I am planning my summers and need help deciding. Costa Rica-Environmental Preservation Trip + Cornell Research + Radiology internship. Is this good or should I do something else?
//I know I am scattered with Biology and Environmental Science but that’s really my passion and, after that, I want to be a Doctor. A lot of the work I do is about helping people and I love helping others.
