Chance me for getting into the PROGRAM of CS and Computer Engineering for some schools please!
UT Austin
UIUC
UW - Seattle
Texas A&M
Also looking for recs of where I should apply, I want top STEM schools for compsci/compeng really.
If you maintain your top 6% status in your class (if you go to a public school), you will be auto-admitted into UT and A&M. Not sure about their computer science program, but you will get into the actual schools themselves. Your ACT score, GPA and EC are really good, you should get in to the program of your choice fairly easily.
I’m aware of this rule @ravensnick , however I’m looking for chances into the programs which are not the same at all. Seems much harder to get program of choice…
Your scores are about as good as they get and you have top notch ECs, as well as a lot of experience and demonstrated interest with computers. Write some knockout essays, and it should be steady sailing.
Honestly, I think that you have a great chance at all 4 of those colleges! Might want to check out Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, the UCs (especially LA, SD, and Cal), and Rice. Good luck next year!
Thanks @jackisawesome , the only problem with UCs for me is the cost . I don’t want to place a huge financial burden on my family, and I’m thinking UT Austin will be the school I go to, even if I get into other schools. The instate tuition is reaaaly nice, also it is a Top 5-10 school for computer science, so that’s also nice. Thanks!
You have no chance at CS direct admit UW Seattle, since it is for in-state students only unfortunately. But you would probably get into UW general admissions and apply to the program later as a sophomore.
I have a similar problem. I really want to go to the McComb School of Business, but UT is really expensive out of state. I’ll probably end up at UMD based on money.
wow @snailshellz … I did not know that. I’m not willing to chance going to a university and not being able to study CompSci, especially if I have to pay OOS tuition. UW is off the list .
