Chance me for CUNY Macaulay Honors Program at Hunter

Gender: F
Location: NY
High School: Public

6 AP classes taken by time of graduation, 4 senior, 1 sophomore and 1 junior
(school offers about 10)
All other classes were honors or college level (credits offered by LIU)

GPA - Unweighted: 3.6
GPA - Weighted: 4.215
Class Rank: top 10%
Class Size: 401

Scores (my first try, I have a study plan for the summer and plan on getting at least 700 on M & CR in October):
SAT I Math: 610
SAT I Critical Reading: 620
SAT I Writing: 610

Also taking ACT in September (again, I have a study plan for the summer worked out)

Significant Extracurriculars:
National Art Honor Society, National French Honor Society, Art Club, I teach mini French lessons to kids at the middle school (I'm very involved w/ French at my school but it's not considered a club or anything)

Volunteer/Service Work:
2 different animal shelters for 200+ hours (one since January 07, the other I just started this summer)

Honors and Awards:
2007 Regional #11 National French Contest
2008 Regional #14 National French Contest

College level work:
2 classes from LIU offered at my high school, 3 credits each
Young Scholars Program @ SUNY Stony Brook (enrolled in one college class at night starting in September)

Recommendations:
One from my French teacher which should be very good (I do A LOT w/ French at my school, plus the teacher knows I overcame depression in my junior year) and the other one from my English teacher (doesn't know me like my French teacher but still should be a good rec)

jeez, i mean wow, ull probably if not definitely get it...but why only hunter? i got in, and am not that thrilled to go given the fact that its IN NYC which i wanted to LEAVE!yeah, like tress...

I'm not asking for chances for Hunter, I'm asking for chances for the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter. The averages are like 1350/1600 SAT and 94/100 GPA hence my apprehension.

I just got my acceptance letter to Macaulay Honors Program yesterday! My major is business. Even though I’ve already been accepted to 6 other schools, including public ivies, I think Macaulay is a great option!

I believe that you are well-prepared for the honors program. Macaulay is a very exclusive institute (as if you don’t already know) and more than 3,200 students applied for approximately 360 slots last year (that’s about only 10% acceptance rate!).

You need to have more leadership roles for your extracurriculars. I am the treasurer of my school store and a club, plus received nominations for leadership positions like peer leaders and nhs, and the art editor for my school’s literary magazine. I also have VERY strong activities and community service records.

In addition to honors and awards, SAT matters substantially. The avg SAT score for Macaulay Honors Program is 1400/1600; though my score wasn’t as high, it goes to show that the admission office also looks at other objectives.

Make sure you are in the top 20% tile of your grade and maintain a 90 GPA or higher to be considered!

Correction: it is called Macaulay Honors COLLEGE, not “program.”
