Chance me for Dartmouth!

About me:
I have a major upward trend in my grades. During Freshman year I was in an experimental program in my school which ended up hurting me GPA, I also suffered depression (explained in my essay) during my Sophomore year which really hurt my GPA. My UW GPA Junior year was a 3.78 and Senior year is a 3.83 (as of now). I'm really worried I won't get into these colleges because of my low GPA, and I also need scholarships because my family falls in that "awkward" financial zone where we need money, but don't qualify for any. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

You say your essay is great, but i’m a little worried about your topic. To be clear, you wrote about why you were depressed as your Common App essay? I hope you know that you risk giving out a sort of pity-me vibe, and that’s never a good thing. Especially for schools like Dartmouth.

Anyways…

Dartmouth: High Reach
Northwestern: High Reach
Fordham: Low Reach
Rutgers: Low Match

Not sure about the others. Your GPA really hurts you though.

@Truust I understand your concern for my topic, but it isn’t solely on why I was depressed; the essay mentions it and explains my sophomore year indirectly. It’s about me overcoming my speech impairment, alongside other disabilities, and becoming an actor. I hope that gives some insight on the essay. Thank you Truust!
