Hi!

My main concern is that my GPA is going to get me in trouble. Drexel is my number one choice and my application is finally complete and under review as of this weekend. So I'm just curious...

[Applying to biomedical engineering]

So here are my stats:

Undergrad: University of Maryland-CP
Major: Bioengineering (Specifically Biomechanical/Biomaterials track)
GPA: 3.07
GRE: V 520 Q 590 E 4.5
5th year senior (changed majors winter of junior year from cell bio to bioe)
Graduating May 2014

Female
Lebanese
Fluent in Arabic
Ended up with 3 LOR - 1 really good from a mentor at FDA, 1 pretty good from my boss, 1 "OK" letter from a professor
Already sent an e-mail to the professor who's lab I'm interested in working in at Drexel if admitted
Guaranteed full ride through scholarship (hoping that helps since it's a private school)

Experiences:

Bioprocess Scale-Up Facility - A biotechnology lab that grows and scales specific strains of bacteria (usually E. coli), yeast, and fungi when asked by companies, labs, and contracts who don't have our facility's equipment. I've been working there for over a year and am planning to continue until I graduate.

FDA - Worked there unpaid from Jan-May 2013 then got an ORISE Appointment Jun-Aug 2013. Worked on a research project that characterized the stability of neural implants during implantation both in vivo and in vitro - I worked mainly on the in vivo part with mice, taking impedance measurements and creating a MATLAB program that streamlines the data analysis.

Independent Study - Researched the use of alginate/Aloe vera hydrogel dressing as a treatment for scars and burns

Not sure if this means much, but I had a poster printed for a student poster session at FDA presenting the work that I had done during my 8 months and will be having another poster printed (listed as an author) for a Neuroscience convention in CA - Neuroscience 2013 - presenting the project as a whole.

Thanks for any help!!
