Chance me for Duke 2014? Pweez =)

<p>Hey all . . . so i know everyone and their mother asks to be chanced. And i also know that the people who ask to be chanced are undoubtedly the most hated people on CC (no really, who would have thought ?! =P) But i thought, what the heck, might as well give it a shot ! </p>

<p>So here are my credentials:</p>

<p>GPA - 3.84, my school doesn't offer many APs - top 10%
frosh year - honors geometry, honors english, honors physical science, honors spanish, honors world history, honors wind ensemble
soph year - honors alg2, honors english, honors bio, honors spanish, honors US-1, honors wind ensemble
junior - honors precalc, honors british lit, honors chem, honors spanish, APUSH, honors wind ensemble
senior - AP Calc AB, AP Lit, AP Euro, Honors Physics, Business organization/management, honors wind ensemble</p>

<p>Summers:</p>

<p>Soph summer - Attended Junior State of America Summer School at Princeton
--Took 2 Courses - AP Comparative Government (received an A), Honors Political Communication (received an A), nominated for Top Speaker during nightly debate portion of camp</p>

<p>Junior summer - volunteered at a retirement home, got a job working as a host at a restaurant</p>

<p>So that's pretty much it. I know all of the music junk got a bit redundant and i won't be able to put half of that stuff on my app, but yeah. </p>

<p>Also, I plan on applying Early Decision, and my brother recently graduated from Duke, so i guess i have some Legacy status aiding me too.</p>

<p>I’m likings the SAT score and the extracurrics. GPA could be a bit higher, but from what I can tell, your school may have a nonstandard, custom curriculum like mine did, and may therefore be harder. Adcoms recognize that. Regardless, a 3.8xx is still fine.</p>

<p>Anyway, it’s all up in the air, dude. Write a really solid essay this summer, package your app well, net a few great recs, and you’ve got a 50/50 shot :)</p>

<p>Yeah, man, if you’re a legacy (yes, brothers definitely count) applying ED, I think you’ve got it in the bag. Like I said, write a good essay.</p>

<p>Legacy won’t help you get in. Duke says that legacy “won’t make or break” your chances.</p>
