General Comments: Duke is my first choice. Could you chance my for both ED and RD, as well as what I could improve on? Much appreciated! Also, please don’t tell me to look at ED/RD class admits from 2020 and 2021. Believe me, I have been.

Nearly impossible to tell without test scores.

Go for ED. Do well on your ACTs and SATs. Good luck. I think you have a great shot if you do well on your testing and if you keep your grades up this year and next.

They don’t want well-rounded, they want “spikes”. What does this mean? Read this:
http://blog.prepscholar.com/how-to-get-into-harvard-and-the-ivy-league-by-a-harvard-alum
Don’t be disheartened; your “spike” doesn’t have to be anywhere near as impressive as the examples in the article. But you should have a clear focus and passion, and have a deep commitment to and leadership in ECs pertaining to it.
Additionally, study very hard for your tests and make sure your courseload is the most difficult possible. Duke doesn’t look at GPA as a number but they do look at how you do in each class. If you can get very high scores on the standardized tests (including any AP/IB/SAT Subject tests) that will help make up for the 3.6, since that means you definitely have a few Bs or Cs.
Also, I would seriously consider applying ED. Your commitment to Duke may be the thing that pushes you over the edge.
Good luck!
