ur in the top 25% of all of these colleges. i have to say I really cant judge u to any of those colleges because I never know what to expect. the val and sal of my high school (both had perfect ACT and one had perfect SAT and mind blowing extracurricular) got rejected from Princeton and Yale but both got into U chicago. oh and they also got deffered and waitlisted for stanford and U penn. i think character plays a huge role.

Def got a chance to Rice and JHS but not dealt sure about Yale & Princeton. So I guess the Ivies are a reach for you (as with anyone else lol). But you def have a shot at Rice and JHS so low reach to match. You have wonderful ACT and GPA (congrats as being #1) but I think your ECs could use a bit refinement and also you should have some leadership positions. Being white hurts too. In addition, your interest is in microbiology-maybe you should emphasis that in your essay and maybe elaborate why this field is for you. (idk just a suggestion. Not sure being from Minnesota would affect your chances-are they competitive? Overall-your choices are great and don’t give up!!

I think because of your position as valedictorian, your ACT, your GPA and curriculum rigor you would be a good fit for Duke ED. My friend got in to Duke ED with a 2270 SAT (almost exactly the same as a 34 ACT) and similar grades/ECs, so I think you have a really solid shot at getting in. Rice, Cornell, and UVa all are matches, maybe Cornell is like a high match. The other Ivys and Uchicago are reaches for just about everyone, but I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in at a place like Penn, UChicago, and JH. The other ones (Yale, Princeton, Stanford) are all about luck and something that will get you noticed- maybe the Germany thing will do it for you. Best of luck!

i’m gonna say low reach for Chicago. Essays are so important though. As well as how you present yourself via the application and who and what you make yourself out to be. Unsure.

Like most people on here you’ve got a shot and they definitely won’t dismiss you right away. Mainly you have to focus on what sets you apart, as there will be a lot of students with profiles pretty similar to yours. Wisconsin and Germany are pretty unique places to live so emphasize those. Get as much feedback as you can on your essays and perfect them. I’d say with your stats you’ll definitely get in to at least one or two of your top schools. Good luck!

I think you are in for Duke. I just can’t agree with some posters about your chances at U of Chicago. I think you are competetive there. Why bother, You wan’t Duke anyway,
- nice weather
- Great sports

You have an amazing academic record and ur ECs look gd. U have a gd chance of getting into these schools but you never know…I feel like sometimes these acceptances can be erratic

bump…

I think you have very good chances at Duke, I am not as famillar with the other schools. Your EC’s and rank are superb, and the test scores are just outstanding as well. Chance me?

You have a very impressive GPA, rank, and solid test scores. Of course you are an extremely qualified applicant, with your EC’s demonstrating leadership (plus the Germany hook) but many of the schools you’re applying to are a crapshoot. In a sense, you simply have NO idea of whether you’re going to be accepted or not. You have done everything you could in high school however, so I guess it’s time to just see how things unfold.

I think yo’ull be very competitive in the ED pool for Duke. A guy from my school went applied ED to Duke last year and he had scores that were similar to your scores. He got in (he did have a legacy connection) but I think you have more interesting ECs (soccer clinic) and a ton more APs (that may partially be because at my school we can only take up to 3 a year, unless you have a valid reason to be an exception). Good luck!!

Duke (Early Descion)- high match
University of Virginia- match
UW-Madison- match
Cornell- low reach
U Penn- reach
Princeton- reach
Stanford- reach
Rice- low reach

Duke (Early Descion) - High Match
University of Virginia - Match
UW-Madison - Low Match
Cornell - High Match
U Penn - Low Reach
Princeton - Reach (but doable)
Stanford - Same as Princeton
Rice - High Match
Chicago - Low Reach
Yale - Same as PS
John Hopkins - High Match

I think your ACT should be a 35, not a 34. (34.5 rounds up) Your test scores are quite good. Curriculum, rank, gpa, etc. are all solid. EC’s are not extraordinary but still are decent. I think you have as good a shot as anyone else at those schools. (especially Duke because of the demonstrated interest through ED)

Duke (Early Descion)-match
University of Virginia-match if instate, low reach if OOS
UW-Madison-match
Cornell-high match/reach
U Penn-reach
Princeton-reach
Stanford-reach
Rice-match
Chicago-reach
Yale-reach
John Hopkins-match

Good luck!! I think you’ve got a good shot at Duke though. I have a friend who had similar stats to you aside from another big EC (she was a Siemens competition finalist) but got in ED, so I think you can as well.

You’ve got the credentials for all of these schools. That being said, the top-tier schools are often very selective in unusual ways/looking for specific things year-to-year (a rep from Duke, for example once told me an anecdote in which she received a call from the music department asking for oboe players, and then admitted 12 oboe players over 12 other students). If your essays and letters of rec are good, I’d imagine that you have as good a chance as any at Duke, Cornell, U Penn, Princeton, Stanford, Rice, Chicago, Yale, and John Hopkins. I think you’ll definitely get into UV and UW. Good luck!

I honestly don’t know what to say. You have the test scores and the gpa that will get your foot in the door. Although you have a lot of plain ECs, you also have some unique ones (it is smart you wrote your essay on the topic you did).

I believe you have an above average shot at Duke. Tell me if you want to exchange essays.
