Chance me for Duke/Cornell SHA/Brown

I would appreciate an honest feedback. I’ve been let down this past month, and although I have almost no hope of getting into other schools, I would just like to see if I am even close enough to potentially being admitted. So here goes nothing:

Intended majors for Duke/Brown: Economics/East Asian Studies

GPA: Cumulative W-GPA through 11th grade (4.017) / W-GPA through Mid-Year of 12th grade (4.5)

SAT 1480, top 10% of class (extremely competitive school), selected to attend summer residential Governor’s School in 10th grade, 11 AP Classes (with most rigor), member of NHS, Science National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, Math Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta), Music National Honor Society (Tri-M), 4 years of orchestra, 2 years of all-districts orchestra, 4 years of foreign language, Mu Alpha Theta Leadership committee, 4 years of team sport (captain for senior year), won in various sport tournaments (regional/state/national level), founder of an organization/club, involved in student government for 1 year, 2 years of leadership in school, 395 hours of community service, paid part-time job.

This pretty much sums up what I’ve done the past four years. What’s really killing me is that my scores are not as high as other students who are admitted/will be admitted. Should I just get these schools off my mind now?

I’m barely a hs junior, but I know people that have been admitted to Brown with way less EC and a lower score than 1480!! So don’t stress about your score  Anything is possible. I am not giving false hope or anything, just pure facts.

Hopefully, this relieves any stress you might be feeling.

Like anyone applying to those schools, yiur odds are small. People with better and worse stats will get in. These schools are reached for EVERYONE. kids with stats like that even get turned down at lesser ranked schools such as Tufts and Northeastern.

It’s great to apply but make sure you have match schools such as Rochester, Florida, etc. and safeties.

Btw the Honor Society’s mean little ti schools. You want to show that you did something Abd deeply, not got a box check.

You will get into great schools and it’s great you strive for the best. But many kids only do that and get in nowhere and are stunned.

Also, there are great programs that will give you great merit if you want to spend less. U of SC Honors, Bama, Arizona, Miami Ohio, Miami, W&L Johnson Scholarship perhaps…
