Chance me for Duke, Johns Hopkins, Stanford

First of all, thanks for any help in advance! So I applied early decision for Duke, and I’m hoping that will improve my chances. I’m mostly looking for my chances of being accepted ED for Duke, but I decided to ask Johns Hopkins and Stanford for one important reason - I recently was awarded a 4 year ROTC scholarship and my top 3 options that I listed were Duke, Johns Hopkins and Stanford (in that order). So if I’m not accepted to Duke I will have to rely on getting into one of those.

Duke TIP - 2 of my high school summers I attended camps for Algebra 2 and Modern Medicine
My sister has special needs, so i devote many hours to caring for her and helping her
Teacher of the Month Election Committee (yes this isn’t a “spectacular” EC, but I included it because it is personally one of the most enjoyable activities and I really love being able to honor the teachers for everything they have done for students such as myself. The teachers here have such big hearts, and it’s incredible how much they do for their kids.)
Sears Part-time sales associate over the summer (I say part-time but I ended up 40+ hours a week)

My school isn’t competitive, and neither my parents nor I were ever aware of what I should’ve been doing in high school such as founding clubs, Siemen’s (?), creating a volunteer project, etc. I’m not trying to excuse what may seem as “weak” or generic activities, I’m simply admitting that I know these are reach schools for me, and had I known more about programs available I definitely would’ve applied myself more. Thanks!
(Btw, these stats are taken directly from my common app I submitted)

I’m a Duke alum. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in ED. Good luck

I agree. I think you stand a very good chance. You have obviously done a lot with the resources available to you. Good luck!

I also think you can get admitted to Duke!

Student Council is loved by schools because it shows interpersonal communication skills. Just having that on your app raises your chances so nice work!!! I think that overall your app looks good. Good luck!

You look outstanding! I think there’s a high probability that you would get into all three. Very good job!

Thanks so much to all of you! All that’s left is for my family to hope and pray, and finding college confidential has helped me tremendously!

You seem to be a verryyy competitive applicant. Another hook is that you’re a URM (I’m guessing since your parents are from MX?) but even without that you’ve got a solid chance. Best of luck!
Would you consider suggesting safeties for me?

I’d say almost 100% chance you will get into Duke, probably also johns hopkins and still a good shot for standford.
To address your EC worry:
At schools and areas that are not really competitive, colleges DEFINITELY understand why you may not have cured cancer. Also, while you may think your ECs look “generic” but the thing is ALL ECs are generic unless you can talk passionately about them or have a recognized award. I’m betting you were easily able to talk about the ECs you cared about, so that should not be an issue.

We told you you’d get in. Congratulations.

Keep us posted! Congrats on being such an appealing applicant.
