GPA and SAT I/ACT are really good. SAT IIs are decent. ECs are weak, though.

That’s funny I have the exact same USH and Math II scores. But you have great stats. You beat me at SAT I by 60 points! lol You have some great ECs (but I really doubt you did JV basketball 3 years in a row, sorry).

Keep it up man! and Chance me back

@borntodance94 how are those ECs “weak.” This is why I hate college confidential. Those are amazing ECs! Stop bringing people down on the internet.

Duke: Reach
UPenn: Reach
Gtown: Low Reach

Obviously intelligent but SAT IIs are very weak for top schools. Cookie-cutter ECs and asian. All the very top schools will be reaches even with a 36.

I agree with originalthought.
Remember, you will be competing against many Asian kids with 35+, 2300+, high 700s on SAT IIs.

690 on Math II is low. You might want to retake it to increase your chances.

I think you are definitely a strong candidate for those schools, but like all competitive schools there are many qualified applicants who will also be applying! Georgetown would be the easiest for you out of those 3, but you never know! I think your courseload and ECs looks fantastic! Good luck!

I love this thing about being Asian hurting your chances lol
Do you Gus believe its the same for Indian people?
And also i think the ECs aren’t weak necessarily, but they don’t seem to be focused in on one motivation or goal. Anyone can join a bunch of stuff to be able to write it on their app

I honestly think you should be fine if you retake the SAT II math. You seem like a great candidate!

I agree with originalthought.

I would try to get at least over a 720 on Math 2. What are you writing your essays on? It doesn’t seem like your ECs are too focused, they seem pretty spread out. Your essays are going to have to be pretty good so you can prove you have a passion for something.

His ECs each aren’t weak, but together, they create a long laundry list with little focus. Maybe get rid of a few that you weren’t so involved with? It will make it more focused.

And I called his numerical stats “really good.” How is that trying to “bring him down”?

Thanks guys, I know my SAT II’s are pretty bad, but I’m definetly not submitting my bio and retaking math II. I really have no idea on the essay yet, just a few scattered thoughts…however, if I only submit ACT do I also submit SAT II’s? Thanks and I will chance u guys back

I forgot to mention that I have over 500 community service hours and intern as interpretor at the UN in Beijing over the summer…will this help me?

Yes. How much? Who knows.

I mean I thought the UN internship would kind of set me apart from other asians? What do you guys think?

Like I said, avoid the long laundry list, and instead just post the ECs you spent a great amount of time and passion on. That will help you a lot more than a huge list of random things. Back before the 2000s, it was better to well-rounded and do a bit of everything, but lately adcoms have been saying they like to see students that have a “theme” to their application. Give it a focus, and it will help to set you apart a bit.

Your test scores and GPA are pretty good, except for the Math II. Your ECs are good, but lack focus. In my opinion, the internship as an interpreter at the UN is your most impressive EC, so try to emphasize that.

The schools you’re looking at are reaches for anyone.

Chance back
