I also attended a fairly prestigious summer pre-college program at St. Paul's School, its a program that most college know about fairly well. I have put this on my commonapp and i got an evaluation as well from my master teacher.

Recs should be pretty good, and so will my commonapp essay and supps.
How am I lookin right now?

Chicago is a reach for just about anybody. With that being said, your application looks strong. The rest of it will be dependent on your essays and teacher recommendations. Those two will separate you from other hopeful students. Good luck!

This is really weird but we actually have a lot in common and I’m currently a first year at the U of C. I went to a public school in NH and I attended ASP at St. Paul’s. I also got a 2260 on my SATs and was a National Merit Semifinalist. My class rank was 6/490 which is very close to yours. I was involved in music, volunteering, and math team in high school as well. This past summer I worked as an intern on Maggie Hassan’s campaign so apparently we both are involved in NH politics. Anyway, I got in and frankly I think your extracurricular involvement is far more impressive than mine was. I can’t make any promises, (plus I know that the NH admissions counselor is different than last year) but I think you’ve got an amazing shot at getting in and I’d love to see more NH people at this school!

One thing I can tell you is that UChicago is making a big push to put more emphasis on community involvement/social justice as well as the arts. I’ve actually become much more involved in community service/social justice here since doing a pre-orientation program a couple weeks ago and I’ve come to realize that it’s very important for UChicago to break down the barriers between the university and the surrounding communities. So admissions is looking for students like you who have been involved in community service/social justice to help break down those barriers. You should definitely emphasize your volunteering/social justice work in your application. You may want to mention in the “Why UChicago” essay how you think the university and surrounding communities will provide you with opportunities to continue this work. You should make them aware of your cello experience as well because the school is trying to grow the music program.

Anyway, I wish you luck. You seem incredibly qualified and I would accept you but unfortunately I don’t get to make those decisions. If you have any questions or are coming to campus and want someone to show you around/introduce you to people, feel free to email me. I’ll send you my email address in a private message.

This is really weird! I am also from NH and I am Indian. I got a 2270 on the SATI and I go to a public hs. I was admitted to studio art in ASP but I chose not to attend as I visited my family in India. I am applying early action also : )

I agree with uofcstudent2016 that I would take you if I were admissions. You are definitely a strong candidate and you have a very good chance of getting in if your essays are as good as your other credentials. Chance me back!
