Chance me for ED SEAS as a hispanic legacy?

<p>I posted last year, but I thought I'd post again, as I now know I'll be applying as a hispanic, and I have more scores and ECs.</p>

<p>I'm planning on applying ED to the Jerome Fischer Management and Technology program, and deferring to SEAS (I'm interested specifically in BME). Both my parents went to Penn. I am probably a long shot for the Jerome Fischer program, but I hear a lot of it comes down to the essay, and I can defer to engineering if I don't get in.</p>

School: Public, very highly rated nationally
FA: Probably very little</p>

<p>Scores and GPA
GPA Unweighted: 3.5
GPA Weighted: 4.1
Course load: One of the heaviest course loads in my class (top 5?)
Classes taken: 7 honors and 8 APs so far, 4 more APs next year
Class size: 350</p>

<p>APs: US (5), Music Theory (5), Calc BC (5), Comp Sci (5), English Lang (5), Physics C (5 and 5), World (3)
SAT I: 2170 (800 M, 740 CR, 630 W) - retaking because I bombed the essay
SAT II: 800 Physics, 780 Math II, 710 US History
PSAT: 2240 - NMS semifinalist or w/e</p>

<p>Leadership
Again, rough order of importance</p>

<p>-2nd Pianist in the top band of our extremely competitive jazz program, state level sight reading award
-Graphics Editor for the school newspaper
-Co-leader of a community service program for helping children learn to play music
-Science Olympiad - 2nd place as a team, personally I got 2 1st place medals at states
-Started the InvenTeams club. We didn't get the grant, but we made it halfway through and got some award
-Co-pres of our Meat Club next year</p>

<p>Senior Year Schedule
4 APs, Jazz band, spanish, independent study in CS</p>

<p>Volunteering
100ish hours sophomore year
100ish hours next year for music mentoring</p>

<p>Pretty much, I see my GPA as my problem. My test scores are great, and my ECs are pretty good. Will that plus legacy and being an URM be enough to give me a good shot despite my GPA?</p>

<p>I think you have a decent chance since you are a minority and your test scores are all really good. But I agree that your GPA might hinder your chances a bit. But either way, you have a good shot of getting in. </p>

<p>Just out of curiosity, what is meat club?</p>

<p>Haha! I knew I would get a question about that :p</p>

<p>Meat club is pretty much what it sounds like… a club about eating meat. I think it’s been around for a really long time at my school. We make t-shirts and such, but we haven’t done much else (since I’ve been in the club). Hopefully this year we’ll have some cookouts :)</p>
