In-state or OOS for UNC-CH?
@collegemom3717 I’m out of state. Could you chance me for the three?
Based solely on stats- so there might be variables that override that- UNC-CH looks unlikely. They have a hard cap of 18% OOS, (which includes recruited athletes), so their OOS admissions are tougher than their admissions stats might imply.
I’m not really a chancer (!), but if you were my collegekid I would say Georgetown - with an admission rate of ~15% has to be seen as reachy (for pretty much everybody, really). BC looks like it’s in the match category.
BUT: if you were my collegekid I would know a lot more about you. And, one of my collegekids got deferred ED
by a school her GC considered a strong match. So, you never know…
Sorry, I suspect you were hoping for a more definitive opinion…
^ As stated above, UNC’s OOS acceptance rate is similar to some Ivy institutions, making it extremely competitive. I would say you are competitive for Boston College.
