**THIS SUMMER, I will be working on a project at a prestigious hedge fund as a paid intern which is very exciting as i want to go to business school (or major in econ) and study finance (hopefully).

Colleges:
UPenn
Georgetown* prob. my #1
Duke
UVA
Boston College

hmmm…your GPA and Sat’s are good as well as your EC’s maybe get more volunteering and community stuff in there. have you considered starting a project on your own instead of helping out other organizations?
As a female going into buisness school, i think you will fare well. Im thinking your get into boston, duke and possibly georgetown.
good luck!

AVDude you don’t think someone with a transcript like this can get into UVA?

You have a good shot at everything, except UPenn might be a bit reachy .. you really never know.

I know its really difficult to say even a ballpark guess, and i know UPenn is a reach. UVA I suppose would be hard to even estimate since theres really no true/accurate percent acceptance for out-of-state applicants. Its also true about my volunteer stuff, AVDude. Thanks for the input so far guys! Anyone else have thoughts?

I also was thinking:
Villanova
Univ. of Richmond
Lehigh
Lafayette

in addition to the colleges listed before

bump  any thoughts?

any ideass?

nobody? because i need to have a good blend of target, match, reach, or safety schools and neeed some advice :)

Just a question: Do you live in B-ville? You don’t have to answer if you feel stalked lol, my mom just grew up there.

Anyway, to respond to your post above, I don’t think your list of schools is a good mix of target/reach/safety, but it’s a good start for reaches. They’re probably all reach (it’s that way for anyone). I’d say for business, UPenn and Georgetown are probably good shots.

To buff up your application, I’d just narrow down on EC’s. You seem very well-rounded, which is awesome, but maybe between now and application time, just start pursuing business-related things, work really hard at one sport (maybe aim for a dance award or something), and some more Community Service (host a benefit concert or something else you organize yourself). Nothing drastic, just clarify your priorities a bit, maybe to have some state/regional awards for the Common App.

Good luck!

I’d say you have very good chances at all of the schools you listed! Specifically:

UPenn - High Reach (this might end up being your only rejection b/c UPenn is GPA-crazed and you’re probably not in the top 10 students of your class)

Duke - Reach/Low Reach (your essays/recs will probably swing the decision)

UVA - Reach (McIntyre is tough! Especially after Businessweek ranked it #2 after Wharton…again, your essays/recs might swing it in your favor)

Georgetown - High Match/(Very) Low Reach (I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t take you!)

BC - Obviously in and w/ a great shot at their amazing honors program.

Overall, your application is great. You have a good mix of ECs with some long-term commitments, interesting club involvements, and good sport involvement. Plus you have volunteering, a job, and an awesome summer plan! To top it all off, you have an SAT score that more than meets what your colleges look for and a decent GPA w/ a tough courseload. The only thing that seems to be a bit lacking is leadership (although you did start your golf team, which is great leadership and iniative). Good luck!

thanks alot guys! yeah Im aware the recs and essays are a huge factor i cant really address yet, but thanks so much for all the input its very helpful.

In addition to UPenn, Duke, UVA, Georgetown, and BC…does anyone also have thoughts for Wake Forest, Lafayette, Univ of Richmond, College of William and Mary, Villanova, or Lehigh? I need some targets/safetys and its about to visit more of them so i want to choose wisely.

bump, thoughts?

Hi, i’ve decided to revive my chance thread :)

New info:
won another award for AP Calc in 11th grade
finished my internship at the financial company
have a couple hundred comm service hours now
volunteered this summer at a center for underpriviledged kids in the summer camp

my “final” list (sorta kinda) is:
Georgetown, Boston College, and Villanova (All EA)
UPenn
Cornell
Duke
UVA
Wake Forest
Vanderbilt
Bucknell

What do you guys think about the list and my chances?
Thanks!! and if anyone wants me to see theirs, post the link!

Oh also I got 5’s on the US History AP and the Language and Comp AP

William & Mary is more difficult then UVirginia to be accepted. I wouldnt count it at all as a safety

bump, please help?? :/

Oh, i didnt see swish’s post. Yeah I realized that after more research and in the end I didn’t put it on my list, but thanks for the response!!
Any other ideas anyone?
